While not original, this is a solution if you are looking at replacing the otter switch, http://www.fossewayperformance.co.uk/fan-switch-kit-otter-switch-replacement/ The Fossway stuff is well made from all accounts http://www.fossewayperformance.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Fan-Controller-Switc...

If you are getting only 8v at the relay, something is using up your power?
Have you put a multi meter across the relay to battery to check the resistance?

Having just done my S3, check out the animation I did in the knowledge base... It does sound like the relay is not functioning correctly. I'd disconnect the wires from C1, C2 & C3, take a photo first on your phone... Put a multi meter on continuity test mode and check to ensure: Normally closed - C2...

Fan Wiring Schematic

Wanted a larger schematic of the wiring loom to work off, suffice to say I got a little carried away with PowerPoint by making it animated... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/74853768/Jaguar_S3_Fan_Circuit.ppsm you may need to actually download it from Dropbox, but it should run automatica...

I have managed to source the closest thing i can find to a the original rubberised 2 pin "hermaphroditic" bullet plug: http://www.cycleterminal.com/vintage-rubber-connector.html if anyone is interested in either the two or three pin, let me know. I'm ordering a few extras as the postage is excessive..

They have a lot, but not the double connector at the top of the photo. Is from the fan wiring loom, SNG don't supply.

Rubber Paint

Hi,
Have just removed the old inner guards from my S3 and about to replace them. I can't decide whether or not the soft spongy gunk on them is a "rubber paint" or 43 years of tar and mud.

If the former, any idea what it is?

Thanks

I was also going to suggest checking the diff would be a good starting point. Is it original, ie LSD? Jack the car rear up and turn the wheels to see if ok, also use a "stethoscope" ie a piece of wood or pipe to listen to the diff gears for noise when rotating.

S3 OTS - New York

So there I was in the back of a crappy New York Taxi, knees up around my ears due to the small space when I spotted a Signal Red S3 OTC parked on Madison Ave, near 86th if my memory serves me. Was brilliantly polished and gleaming in -6 Celsius.... Hat's off to you Sir for driving it today as 1hr la...

Personally I think the etype, healey, Aston etc are coming to an end of their massive valuation run. The reason being this: When those cars came out in the 60's and 70's it is the 50+ people today that had them on their walls during that era. Generally it is the 50+ (And 40+ tbh) that now has the mo...
