Re: Repro Tool Kit Question
The UK E-Type Club published in its magazine a couple of years ago a huge set of monthly articles going into massive detail of all E-Type tools. They started in June 2017 written by Roger Payne. Members have access to them. This list is here: https://160dd44f-1330-457b-9f03-1b300fa058cb.filesusr.com...

Re: Anyone familiar with this Series l ???
My car has a discrepancy with its body number. The JDHT certificate says 4E24142, but the label behind the number plate says 4E26142. When I queried it with JHDT they said it was probably a simple error made by the bloke who did the stamping and is not uncommon. Apparently the stamped number is for ...

If you are a member of the The E-Type Club you can get the most amazing detail on all the documentation that came with all E-type models.
S1 4.2 documentation is covered over 3 articles in issues 136,137 and 138 of the magazine starting in March 2016.

The yellow triangles show if the prices have been changed since the previous version of the data. In both cases in the table they have gone up.

Re: Value S1 Jag e-type 4.2 LHD Roadster
According to Practical Classics price guide of August 2018 this sounds like a Condition 3 car which is defined as 'cars usually need a complete rebuild, but might be driveable and MoT’d– candidates for restorations. For a 4.2 OTS this says £60k is the average for cars sold in the UK. However I imagi...

There is another free resource for classic cars prices - the Practical Classics price guide which is updated regularly. The last one I downloaded was for August 2018 - details below https://i.postimg.cc/wjVQWCYq/Etype-prices-2018.jpg These are the price categories https://i.postimg.cc/g01X4sjc/Price...

Re: Thought and Contemplation
I liked Mark's response from the USA because I can see all the same things here in the UK with my own grown up children. Another factor in the UK is housing and garaging. Whenever I bought a house a decent garage was a major consideration because I have always had a 'hobby' car. However since the 19...

Clausager's Factory Original book says that for the USA and Canada markets the change to open headlights was from chassis 1E77010 for S1 2+2s and this was from Jan 67.

There is a lot more in Anders Clausager's book, Factory Original Jaguar E-Type.
Also many details are covered in the Series 1 3.8 Factory Fit posts on this forum, though not chronologically

Re: Car storage
Geoff is right that moist air can easily get past garage doors. I have a double length garage with an ordinary up and over door with my E-type in. For the past six years I have had a dehumidifier on continuously in the garage and it seems to have coped very well. Its a Meaco dessicant type which sam...

Re: Just a reminder
On a separate note there were 8 E-types at the auction, a good selection ranging from a 1961 flat floor to a couple of S3's.
Only one car was sold and that was a FHC chopped down and made into an OTS. It went for £79,520.

Re: 4.2 Radio Console fixings
Chris The assembly is fixed to the bulkhead with 4 fixings, 2 chromed knurled knobs at the bottom and 2 chromed domed bolts at the top. I think they are the ones you describe. I am not aware of a cam cover nut being used. Unless the 2+2 is different there is a picture in Factory Fit for the 4.2 OTS ...

Re: Radio Console Outer Panels Series 1 4.2 1966
BD26202/3 are the speaker panels which go onto the overall console metal frame. There are then the speaker grilles and if I remember a cardboard type gasket between the speakers and the metal chassis. The whole assembly is fixed to the bulkhead with 4 fixings, 2 chromed knurled knobs at the bottom a...

Re: Radio Console Outer Panels Series 1 4.2 1966
I have a '66 FHC and the picture you show looks correct if you are mainly talking about the 2 side speaker panels which came with moulded black vinyl on them.
There is a close-up shot of one in the S1 4.2 factory fit thread, on the blue OTS car.

Re: IRS access panels
I think the part in question is BD18492. On my 1966 4.2 FHC I don't believe the cut out holes had been factory provided. But it was clear a previous owner had just taken some tin snips and made a very messy hole in the metalwork to get to the IRS. As a result I wanted to have the correct panel to co...

Clausager's Factory-Original book show pictures of the folding board to have vinyl on both sides for an early car with the 2 part hardura boot mat.
It also says the sloping part of the bulkhead in front of the folding board is in hardura and the vertical panel is in moquette.
Hope that helps.

Rare sight, E-Types on an car transporter
Wednesday night on the 'The Channel' programme on C4, last in the series about the English Channel. A 2 second shot of a car transporter with 3 E-types on it plus some other older Jags (I think). One E-type just has the front of the bonnet showing. Came off the Calais ferry in France in the summer. ...
