Blue smoke from new restored 3.8 ltr

Some years ago I restored my 1963 E-type roadster and had the pleasure of getting many good advise from this forum. The car is finished and approved, but other events has taken my time so this year is the first year I actually use it. The car had been "upgraded" with a 4.2 ltr engine so I had a 3.8 ...

Re: Horn Slip Ring

You may lack some parts. SNG has a set of spareparts for this I found very useful.

Re: brakes bleeding S1 4.2

Maybe a stupid question but since the front caliper has its own master cylinder. Are you sure you got the mechanical connection from the pedal box to the cylinders correct? Can you actual see it is pressure on the master cylinder to the front calipers? If it is and you can open bleeders on both side...

Protection for rear bleeding extension

When I built my serie 1 I was advised to install extension to the rear caliper bleeders and I am very happy I did. However, I think they are a bit exposed where they stick out under the frame so today I made a protection if a stone comes flying up and hit it, which would result in lost rear brakes. ...

Re: Brake fluid

I know nothing about Dot 3 fluids but I am pretty sure I heard that Dot 5.1 has a better lubricant than Dot 4 if sticky pedal is an issue.

Re: Blocking / sticky brakes at 63 3.8 FHC with bellow-type

Hi, I updated my restauration log with this but it belongs here too. I found the problem with that my brakes did not want to realease properly when they got warm. I got very confused in the beginning because first it was RH front wheel so I thought it was the caliper. Then I realized it also was a b...

Hi, Just wanted to update you on this subject which I think is not only something I am struggling with. Since the problem moved from front to back when I changed the pipes on the master cylinders I thought I had it under control obviously being the master pump for the front circuit. I was looking fo...

Hi again. Today I took the calipers on my right front side and worked them until they went quite smoothly. Then I went out and provocet them to get hot. I went home when I felt they started to give resistance. When I got home I jacked it up and found out that I had got it wrong it was blocked ON BOT...

Thank you. That is an interesting thought. SNG also asked me if I changed the pipes so they may have experienced the problem before. I have got hold of a couple of calipers here locally so I am planning to change them and see if it sorts out the problem but if the problem persists I will go to the h...

HI, I am taking up again this old subject. I have now started to use my car after a complete restauration and experienced that the right front brake caliper blocks. What happens is that it seems to block when the brake is used so it gets warm. It isn't after just pushing the pedal hard but when I ha...

Interior problems

Hi, My project is moving on - which means into new problems :D On the left side I have difficulty understand how the side trim is fastened. It sits on the upper side and I thought it was supposed to go inside the dashboard wall so it will be held that way but it is no room. Enclose picture from my c...

It appears the bar is an off-catalogue item at SNG so this should be solved easily.

Thank you so much. This is very helpful. I have both brackets but I lack the bar on the chassis. I will check if SNG has it. Otherwise I will have to make one.

Yes, I know, but how is the bracket 6 being fixed to the chassis. Is it any bracket being a part of the chassis on the side there where it is screwed in?

air filter mounting

I have difficulty understanding how the air filter box is fitted. I see it is a bracket on the side that goes somewhere onto the chassis and another bracket that goes in the bottom between somewhere. But I find no holes that seems likely. I have scrolled thorugh the pictures but have difficulty to s...

Thank you for responding. It is not a lot force I put on it so it certainly is not good. I contacted SNG and got the following reply: If the plunger adjuster gap is incorrectly set, the door lock mechanism can be held slightly under load this will lead to hit and miss door locking and will quite qui...

No I mean the door locking mechanism. It is not able to hold the door locked when you put a certain force on them. Tried to adjust in all direction and the door looks well and sit tight, but when putting some force on it the mechanism releases and the door opens.
Doesn't it make any sense?
