if as you say its coming from around the layshaft and reverse shaft locking plate it could be the O ring seals on these shafts.

I think the mounting plates have holes in them.

Mine too, 861363 still has the relay. Haven't heard of it being deleted before.

This really hit home to me. This car is identical to mine apart from lhd instead of rhd. Must sort the security issues asap. Really hope you get it back.

I think you must mean the interior trim to the tailgate, if so yes they are now plastic although the originals were a form of carboard . the top piece is covered in vinyl with the vinyl lower edge wrapped under the window rubber seal before fitting the glass and then the trim is glued to the door.

I agree the retainer looks to be bent upwards. It causes the hook to hit the bulkhead without releasing.

Many years ago,about 45 years, I had a carbon release bearing break up on my Mk2 340 just as I was coming up to a roundabout and used the clutch. And this was before all of these pattern parts around now.

I enjoyed this immencely, and certainly agreed with the mans comments at the end re Ser 1 against Ser 3. My Ser 1 is a great car but I enjoy driving my Ser 3 much more.

I've had Coopercraft alloy calipers on my Ser 1 for 13 years with no problem at all, very happy with them. Surprised that you have problem with similar product from Zeus and I cannot see Greenstuff pads affecting them.

Thank you very much Dave, you've given me all the info I needed. I'm now reassured that my car has'nt had any alteration re diff in the past and is indeed a transition car. I wonder why the original owner opted for the 3.54 though. Thanks again.

Thank you Dave, my original diff is 3.54 ratio, has Dunlop brake calipers and has the adapter brackets. My query is, is this correct for a March 64 3.8 car. Thank you Steve, nothing like that on this diff, I'll probably have to do more research. I've been running the car with a spare 3.07 diff thats much earlier without brackets but would like to go back to the original spec for the car. Time to get a Heritage Cert perhaps.

Hi Steve, I've got the diff out and on the bench so I've just scraped the paint off to check for a number. All it has in that position is H1 stamped upside down, any thoughts?

Thank you Randall, thats interesting. My car is from March 64 and does have the brackets, I wondered if it was the original diff as it is a 3.54 ratio which was unusual for a UK car.

Hi guys, just wondered if anyone could tell me when the diff that required brackets for the rear calipers was fitted, was it just on 4.2 cars or did some 3.8 cars have them. Many thanks

My 64 3.8 fhc definitely has a rubber seal around the metal gearbox cover. Had the car 50 years and assume it to be original fitment but who knows?

Thatt takes me back David. In my twenties I worked for a Jaguar main dealer and used those time schedules to try and earn bonus. They'er not very fair though, I once fitted a replacement starter to a nearly new series 3 E type which took two hours and the book gave the job as a half an hour.

If its a LHD car then it could be wear in the bronze bush that the rack slides through on the right side allowing it to move up and down and it will require replacement.
