Which distributor
My series 1 4.2 badly needs a new distributor as it is really worn. I have a very old Luminition on it at the moment that works fine. I also have an XJ6 electronic distributor, amplifier, and coil from a very low mileage car that died of terminal rust. Im looking for an easy option to get rid of the...

Silver painted head
The cylinder head on my series 1 2+2 appears to have once been painted silver, not gold.
Whats the difference in the heads?
Thanks
Steve

Exhausts, previous owners , straight through or not?
I have finally got around to removing the stainless exhaust from my series 1 2+2 ( manual ) to repair a cracked weld. I find that the PO fitted one conventional silencer and one straight through. That may account for the differing exhaust sound from each pipe at idle. So I am going to replace the wh...

Double s exhausts
Hi has anyone had a stainless exhaust manufactured by Double S? They are for sale on e-bay through a well known supplier for ?450. Thats about ?200 cheaper than other usual suppliers. My existing stainless exhaust is rusting through in places, yes really it is rusting and a weld has split in the HAZ...

Brake master cylinder pushrod
Is there anyone out there that could measure their brake master cylinder pushrod please? Part number C26529. Its for a series 1 4.2, 2+2. It should be the same on a series 2. The early ones had a different part number ( C25901). Mine is 85mm from the clevis pin hole to the end. The reason I ask is t...

Thanks for the replies, I tried both of those routes before I created the post. Neither supplier would/ could give me a contact number for Falcon. Internet search has turned up nothing. Can I use two downpipes and flexis from a non 2+2 (which I have been offered at ?40 each) and join them onto the 2...

Brake pedal adjustment
Series 1 4.2 1966 brake pedal adjustment . Despite everything on the brakes being BRAND NEW and properly bled, I still am not happy with the feel of the brakes. I wonder if the position of the brake pedal will affect the feel. I know the pedal is adjusted by the 1/4 unc setscrew and nut on the pedal...

I went to my local scrap yard and found a modern multi bladed fan with all the fan tips joined. About 14" diameter so it just fits in the back edge of the fibre glass cowl. Although a round motor I fitted it on the centre line of the radiator cowl just underneath the existing motor bracket. Wired up...

XJ6 series 3 distributor
I have, sitting on my bench, a distributor and amplifier from a series 3, 4.2 XJ6. The one in my series 1 4.2 E-type is worn. Can I just replace it with the XJ6 one. I assume that I will need to replace the coil as well.
Thanks
Steve

Worn distributor?
With everything at rest I can rotate the rotor arm anti-clockwise against the advance and retard springs, let go and it springs back to where it was. However I can also rotate it clockwise about 15 degrees to a 'stop' but have to turn it back to where it was. Is it worn or do the advance and retard ...

Series 3 brake servo on a series 1
Hi, I have never had really good brakes on my series 1 2+2 despite renewing the servo, master cylinder, rear calipers and fitting Zeus front calipers. Is there any advantage in fitting a series 3 servo ?
Steve, goes well but doesnt like stopping
