Thank you to all your all of your replys, the problem turned out to be a very old and tired wire which connects to the negative of the coil, and down to the connector on the plastic bit which fits between the dizzy and the cap part number RTC175. What a transformation, so simple, but taken a long ti...

I have checked all filters, replaced plugs, leads, dizzy cap, points, condensor, coil and checked timing, I have had the carbs tuned and balanced, apart from the middle piston sticking slightly. I was talking to someone today who owns a series 1, and he had a similar problem it turned out to be a fa...

I went to start the car this morning to take out on a drive, as I turned the key it did not want to fire. After about six attempts it finally fired and backfired, left it idling for about 5 minutes and the engine just died, after I got it going again it ran fine for about 10 miles and then it starte...

The car has been fully serviced, I did have problems prior to the service but was OK after, It seems like it is starved of fuel, the problem started a few weeks ago only a minor flat spot, but has increasingly got wor...

I have recently had new MWS wheels fitted, but I had a garage fit them, before the car went in for paint job I could hear a slight noise and I had the old wheels on then, also two weeks ago I had the car MOTd on the car I was advised that there was some play in the wheel bearings.

Body shop has told me the thermostat was jammed, so they took it out spilling coolant all over the distributor. I have cleaned it all out and it has made a 50% difference in the running, I did notice the points were black, not being an expert on changing these I will wait till it has its service. Wo...

engine running lumpy

Not long got my E-Type (1969 4.2) back from a year in a Body-shop and I finally got to ride the beast earlier today. Aside from a few other minor niggles the main problem I've encountered is the engine being lumpy with erratic tick-over and sounds like it's mis-firing and not running on all cylinder...

Hi, I am having a 1969 S2 2+2 restored, the car is basically sound with no corrosion, they have advised me, the bonnet had some paint lifting due to heat, quite a lot on the bonnet. To rectify this, they have said to to put a layer silver reflect a cool under the bonnet, this is a self adesive alumi...
