Re: Trimming
GB Classic Trim fully trimmed my car and did a great job. My original hood frame had to be reshaped to fit a new bodyshell. Took a lot of time and patience but the result was excellent and I would fully recommend them. The car is carcooned at present and sorry but don't have a suitable hood-up photo...

It's finally on the road.
1996....My 40th and finally my dream car had arrived. £8500 for a 1962 RHD Series One Roadster. The first picture says it all. Reasonably complete except for the bonnet but a total rust bucket.... . In fact the bootlid was the only piece of the bodyshell to survive....talk about your heart ruling yo...

Re: GB Classic Trim Nuneaton
Another huge plus for Graham Watkins and his team at GB Classic Trim Nuneaton. I had my 1962 roadster seats, centre console and radio console trimmed by them and collected two weeks ago. Superb quality. I timed my visit to view an early silver flat floor roadster which had just received a total retr...

Re: Headlight bowls fitment
thought I'd add to this post after my Series One exploits on headlight fitting and in particular seating rims. Be aware that there is a special Series One seating rim. SNGB make it at £25 when the "el cheapo" version commonly available is only £10. That one is fine for later etype models without the...

Re: Safety belts
Been mentioned before but try FDTS for safety belts. They are bespoke manufacturers and I understand they supply them to all the big names ...CMC, Clayton, SNG etc . You get a very comprehensive email with all the information you need to help you decide....and at better prices. Your contact is Susan...

Re: E type Battery
I purchased a John Burton battery a few years ago but it is a very tight fit. I had to remake the retaining pins as flat plates with a threaded section welded at the top for the wing nuts to squeeze them in. Suggest you carefully check the width available in your battery compartment. Could be down t...

Small Engineering Company offering great value
Always great to find small British Engineering companies undertaking real quality work at superb prices. https://i.postimg.cc/0537dbmX/IMG-20190730-124317.jpg I used the above to purchase two full sets of stainless front pistons for Series 2 Girling 3pot calipers. The quality was excellent. Cost Inc...

Overwintering ...synthetic petrol
May be of interest to those who keep their pride and joy in moth balls for months. (the etype of course   ) You wouldn't want to drive far with this at the price, but given its longevity, draining the tank and replacing with 5L of this to pump through the carbs each year for five yea...

throttle controls
hi all ... got the SU carbs fitted to my never ending restoration now. The rear slave shaft assembly C18938 (RHD 3.8) was always missing. I could buy as the single item or as a complete throttle kit as the two control rods have seen better days. Has anybody purchased repro's and is there anyone you ...

Re: Wheel: what Tightening torque
Confusing!!! bought a set of repro spinners some time ago in readiness for when needed as still restoring the car. Was it a bad decision?? BUT surely many sets have been purchased and there hasn't been any significant reporting of wheels dropping off has there?? SNG Barrett etc wouldn't still be sel...

Raising this old chestnut again after finding Ebay item 282968230208. Viton washers from a strange source which are an ideal fit under the copper washer and great value. Bought mine a few months ago and now there is a good offer on them. You will need 26 and I think it is 153 you need but please che...

Hi Richard... I recently spent a significant amount of time on wiring with similarities to your post... 3.8 Series One 1962, +ve earth (via dynamo), used Coventry diagram, using LED's for rear lights, instruments and flasher , limited wiring capability but can follow a diagram with persistence!! One...

Re: Fuel tank removal & refit
Currently struggling myself with a repro fuel tank in a M. Robey repro shell.. not a great combination!! BUT my tip is you can be spanner free for this job. Just buy a small 1/4 drive socket set with a 6"extension bar which is suitably narrow and delicate to access all three bolts. You will then nee...

Re: Dash air vents
Clive... BD23832 is only the black vinyl/foam cover for the metal dash top and not a kit. Key the part number into Barratt's part search which will show it. If your car is 4.2, think you will need the set of 5 demister nozzles. Give Barratt's a call as they keep these in plastic. My car is early 3.8...

Re: Dash air vents
Hi Clive... are you referring to the original plastic vents on early E Types which are in three sections and very delicate? Def for 3.8 but not sure re 4.2's. If you Google demister vents etype, there are links to these early ones and the later ones in five sections. I am also in need of a set of ea...
