Re: Water pump failure ?

Yves, good that you no more have overflow as this is already an improvement. However, you should check the temperatures with an IR gun and not rely on the gauge readings if this has not been duly verified before. A modest investment anyway for a tool to have in your garage. The gauge or sender (or b...

:banghead:
Had I £40 millions, would certainly not one single second consider investing in the classic car market.
Still surprising to see how investors get easily carried away.

Re: Jag E Type Series 2. 1970

Welcome Bill,
My S1 came from BHCC too, but there was one owner in between so did not deal with them directly.
Excitement will begin shortly, once you have the car in your garage.
What is the colour combo?
Good luck in your project :fingerscrossed:
Cheers,

Re: Royal Jaguar?

Well the clear fact, since the conversion to electric is so easily achieved and could be reversed, is that the E type was a car designed from the start for the future.
Not many cars of the same era can claim this. :bouncyyellow:

Re: Tacho and Charge issue.

Warren, I meant the alternator relay which is located next to the battery on the left, not the 3aw of the ignition light sorry. This is typical of S2. When this relay fails the alternator is no more excited, hence no more charging. I had exactly the same some time ago. Good luck and please do let us...

Darren, you can start by checking the ignition relay.

Re: Engine hesitation (S2 triple SU)

Thanks David, I had already downloaded and explored all these for the tune up.
Christopher, I will try the 2 degrees advance, should be easy to do with the MJ-Edis by just changing the trigger offset from 0 to -2. Will report shortly results.

Re: Engine hesitation (S2 triple SU)

Thanks Steve, in my case the coilpack (for Edis) is not fed by the white wire coming from the ignition switch but from a separate line from the fuse panel. Nevertheless, could add a parallel wire and switch to test. And forgot to add that I do have some little exhaust poppings when decelerating down...

Engine hesitation (S2 triple SU)

Last summer, have converted my S2 from twin-Stromberg to triple-SU (brand new kit from Burlen). Tuned the SUs as per the wsm, and after numerous sessions and almost 2000km later, I still have a slight but very noticeable constant engine hesitation. It is there on acceleration or cruising and at all ...

Re: RHD 3.8 Instrument panel wiring.

Richard the "4th" which you see in the photo is simply one of the 2 non-braided folded before entering the loom. There is no 4th purple to be connected to the fuses. You certainly are looking at the other side of the purples, most likely the one which should go to the map switch. Using your multimet...

Re: RHD 3.8 Instrument panel wiring.

Richard, here is a snapshot of mine (LHD) where you see the 3 purple wires on fuse 8 (one is braided): https://s31.postimg.cc/n4efskbd7/dashboard1.jpg And if you go with the wiring diagram, you will find that there are only 3 purple wires converging on fuse 8: cigar lighter map light flasher and tur...

Re: RHD 3.8 Instrument panel wiring.

Richard, the braided purple should go to fuse 8 with the other two non-braided purple ones.
The black with a spade is an earthing one that goes to the frame of the light switch, you should have a male spade fixed under one of the three bolts holding the switch.

Steve, when I click on your link I reach well the ad. But what is puzzling is that whichever direct search I do on ebait-uk, I cannot find it. I tried all combinations without success. Any guidance would be of interest.

Re: Water pump removal on a 3.8

There is enough flex in all the rest. Just take it easy and slowly to get just enough of the clearance needed.
