Re: Boot release will not open?

I faced exactly the same misery on a tour in Burgundy couple of years back: a plastic shopping bag had been caught in the catch when closing the lid and preventing the catch from completing the opening swing when the cable was pulled. I have tried a coathanger wire as Simon is recommending but it di...

Bonnet opening at speed

One would think that with speed, the unlatched bonnet of an E would be pushed down by wind force.
Obviously, not the case here:

First aid kit

Has anyone seen such a first aid kit before? In Belgium it has been compulsory to have a first aid kit in the car since decades, and dealers used to supply these with every new car, lodged in the glovebox. https://s15.postimg.cc/c7kqfunrf/fak1.png https://s15.postimg.cc/ggpgi9r3f/fak2.png

Re: Anyone used Nankang Retro RC-001 tyres?

Btw, this tyre exists also with V rating for few bucks more. I met last week-end a fellow with an S1 4.2 fhc that had these fitted recently in replacement of Blockleys on a 5.5 rims, he expressed only good comments. They did look nice on the car, although when comparing thread patterns the Vreds do ...

Re: soft top frame colour

Mine was blue-greyish, btw I dont understand why they had selected this colour, changed to satin black which is for me much more appealing (no concours concerns for me).

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Phil, this is the correct bolt. It has to be tightened really tight or else you will have a movement giving a clear audible clonk and also a knock which you can feel. Had the same after driving a while newly fitted radius arms, it seems they need to bed-in a bit and retightened.

Hi Georg, hope you will be back on the road soon. Such events add a little spice to the journey. Did you see the alternator/ignition light staying on while driving? This is supposed to go on once your alternator is not charging anymore. If they change the alternator, do ask for the old one ...

Re: engine issue my specialist can't fix ... help!

Jon, fuel and water temperature gauges are powered via the small voltage regulator (VR) in the instrument panel. If you still have the original style bimetallic strip type of VR, then it is simply misacting and therefore your gauges are no more accurate. Best would be to move to a modern VR, that yo...

Re: Covered headlamps - water tightness

Excellent pictures thank you. I have just attacked the first one and angled the upper bead, but for the lower bead it was easier to file the chrome surround. Huge difference now as the chrome surround sits flush all around pressing the rubber seal. Now up to the other side, and then the water test :...
