Re: Rear Dolly
Stu. Just realised that my email address on the Forum is historic as I retired a year or two ago. As a result I have not received your PM. Trying to think what to do. Are you an E Type Club member? If so leave a message for me and the office can contact me Rs Nick

Re: Sudden complete loss of fuel delivery
Frank This sounds v familiar! First of all is your fuel pump clattering because of no fuel going through it? If yes remove the pickup pipe from the fuel tank. In my case there was no filter gauze on the end. With a torch take a look into the tank. You may well see a lot of gunge in the bottom. If so...

Re: CLASSIC CAR CLUBS
Having had many classic cars and joined many clubs the best by far for our cars is the E Type Club. No stifling committees, no concours, none of the "that's not original mate" brigade - it's purely about driving and enjoying. A great bunch of fellow drivers too. Join and enjoy and make sure you atte...

Re: Cylinder head paint
Steve Thanks,on that but had already studied previous entries and found nothing conclusive. Was at the NEC classic car show yesterday and found one guy selling so called pumpkin yellow, but it looked more like kermit green so declined. Advice to anyone going next year - go alone you'll see so much m...

Cylinder head paint
Keen to reinstate the pumpkin coloured cylinder head paint on my Series 1 as the rebuilt engine came back in gold. Have just seen the price of a tin of the said pumpkin paint and nearly died- it's £100! Does anyone know of a suitable source/compromise that is affordable for mere mortals - otherwise ...

Re: E-type illustrations
Trevor These are brilliant - you may have just started a new business! Suggest you get a feature in the E Type club magazine when you have worked out prices etc. If you can fine tune them even further by personalising owners numbers plates then even better. Like the Lightweight but FHC best Nick. Se...

Re: 1961 3.8 OTS hot start woes on newly restored car.
Have just experienced the same symptoms. Car conks out after 10 miles or so, fiddle around under the bonnet and heh Ho it starts again. Decided it wasn't electrics so dropped the fuel tank sump to find it clogged with flaked paint. Worked out this had come from the tank nozzle when the car was resto...

Re: SNGB day at Shelsley.
Yes an excellent day and very well run. I made the mistake of going up first with Julian in the F Type 4 by 4 - the run in my E felt very slow by comparison. He drives v well at sub 35 second times - a lot quicker than when I used to compete there in my old ex-works TR3. Crash helmets in FHC's also ...

Re: Oil Pressure
Hugo whatever went through the pump caused dramatic damage to the internals which are very heavily scored with chunks taken out of it. I reckon I heard it happen - rather like a spanner hitting a prop shaft. So in addition to the foreign body I had bits of oil pump in the filter and OPRV. Just shows...

Re: Oil Pressure
I maybe able to offer some advice as I have had 2 sudden drops in oil pressure from a rebuilt engine last year. The first occasion I had just done the first oil and filter change at 250 miles. The pressure dropped to the mid 20's at 2.000 rpm and zero at tickover. The engine builder rebuilt it again...

Re: Headlamp cover removal for cleaning
Following on from Julian's comments the best way to locate the screws is to fit the glass/rubber/rim in situ and then push a fairly broad headed nail into each of the holes. Push the nails through so they locate into the captive nuts. This will hold the whole unit in place. Then remove each nail one...

Re: Julian Barratt
I think we are remarkably lucky to have such an active, friendly and efficient company as SNG Barratt providing the spares backup for our pride and joys. They certainly go that bit further as was witnessed at the recent E Type club day at Ch Impney. Julian drove to his premises and back during the d...

Re: Can I replace the oil pump without pulling the engine?
Agree entirely about naming and shaming. This is not what the Forum is about. Just back in from the garage and am delighted to say that all appears fine. Cranked it up for a minute or two with no plugs in and coil disconnected. No pressure showed on the gauge. Realised that I had not connected the s...

Re: Can I replace the oil pump without pulling the engine?
It is very easy to remove the oil pump but it's the process before this that's the problem. I now have had 2 engine failures from the same so called professional builder. The last one involved low oil pressure again and something going through the oil pump before the first 250 mile filter and oil ch...
Re: Sun Roof
Having moved from a TR3 - which I ran on aero screens- to a 62 FHC I can honestly say that I love the webasto. Smells and sounds are more acute and it avoids the claustrophobic element often associated with the FHC. The lever is getting a bit sloppy so does anyone know a specialist in the W Midlands...

Scissor Lifts
Just wondering whether anyone can offer advice on what type or manufacturer of scissor jack is best for an E Type. Visited the NEC classic car show and looked at a number of products. It seems there are two types. One is the twin platform where the car rests on rubber blocks and the other has arms t...

Narrow bAck seat on Early S1
Can see no difference between the two seats. Have actually done away with the runners for the drivers seat and bolted it direct to the floor to get more head room + cranked up the front with spacers on the bolts. And to Julian I say our respective cars are not too far away. Mine is 860541. I wonder ...

Hello from LKE 200F
You'll enjoy your E and with CMC working on it you won't have much to worry about. I also live over in Ludlow and was at the Shelsley Breakfast meeting this last Sunday- 1962 BRG Series 1 FHC. I also used to compete at Shelsley as well and even won the Gordon Bennett Trophy in my ex works TR3 a few ...

Hello from Gloucestershire
Brian, I too live in Ludlow and have a Series 1 3.8 FHC as well as a buss pass- actually a Senior Railcard. Am hoping to get it fired up and run today as I've only done 50 miles on a new and proper E Type engine. The previous block was from a Mark 10. You've got 2 cars to see in Ludlow and then ther...
