Re: Adjustable shocks

Why on earth you’d want to raise the ride height I don’t understand. You will complexly change the quality of the handling. I would suggest you either keep the standard springs, and fit adjustable dampers to change rebound and or compression. That will stop bottoming out. Or change springs as well. ...

Re: V12 E-type, “Unleashed”

Hi Marek, Good point well made. All I can say is that I have classic car insurance for my car described in detail and explaining all the modifications. I always go for an annual MoT because it is both good practice, and an important part of the cars history. With that in mind, I suppose I, along wit...

Re: V12 E-type, “Unleashed”

Not sure about their internal configuration of the Unleashed other than it is stroked, which is the default mode modifying 5.3 engines. Mine was the very last crated 6.0 litre engines from the factory. There were 6 engines in total and one ended up in a ex Broadspeed XJ12 racer, the rest went to JD ...

V12 E-type, “Unleashed”

EtypeUK are certainly good on PR, and particularly with the recent announcement of the Unleashed V12. An article in Autocar no less, a magazine noted for today’s latest offerings. And the Unleashed would have got 4 stars if it wasn’t for the ridiculous price tag of £500,000! I commend EtypeUK for th...

Oh get some sense of humour Steve. Yes we are a forum, but please don’t lecture me like that. I meant no harm, and don’t take non PC comments too seriously. Get a life!

Re: 'GB' Letters

Total bollocks! Like most of you, I’ll do as I feel is appropriate. Great Britain……..anyway it won’t be the UK fir that much longer if the miserable beggars north of the border get their way. That’s another wind up. That silly little girl up in Scotland…..I’ve coming to the conclusion that owning an...

Re: Fuel

Can you still buy Redex…..I have an original Redex gun that my Grandfather had at his garage petrol pumps. 1 squirt per gallon of petrol, if I remember right. A good suggestion if you can still buy it.

Re: Luggage.

Hi Steve,

I know I replied to your email, but I’ll take the photos of the luggage in the car and out of it first thing in the morning. You will get the pics by about 9.30.

Cheers

Re: Luggage.

Yes, I have a set of rigid purpose made cases for a roadster. They were made for Eagle. Look a bit like gun cases, and can send some photos if you are interested. Black leather, rigid, and well made.

Re: 6.0L conversion

Here is my 6.0 litre engine. It uses the very last crated 6.0 litre engine that was found in the parts department at Jaguar in 2005. It is mated to a standard Jaguar 4 speed gearbox. The work was carried out by Wilkinson’s. The rest of the car has been modified by Eagle, such as brakes, suspension a...

Re: Insurance

It’s not just about the small print. Obviously you have to happy with the cover you are offered. There is, however, another aspect to this. What if you have a claim? I have always dealt with Peter James. Dealing with him direct when a concours S2 was written off, I got paid out in full within a few ...

Re: Experiences with ceramic coating

Yes, I’ve just had my paintwork “corrected” after seeing swirl marks under special lighting. I have always used Swisswax, but after my car has been treated to a Gtechniq treatment, I won’t use wax again. Gtechniq are supposed to be the top end company who manufacture ceramic coatings. It really is a...

Re: opus ignition system

Thanks Marek, I’ll give it some thought. At present I have the AJ6 Engineering (Roger Bywater’s) ecu for the fuel injection, but the ignition side of the equation seems pretty standard XJS with the original distributor.

Re: opus ignition system

I gather E-type UK run a different ignition system on their resto-mod V12 E-types. I was thinking of investigating whether or not this was an option on my 6.0 litre V12 with later XJS fuel injection and AJ6 upgrades. I spoke to Marcus, but he was not forthcoming about exactly what their ignition upg...

Re: Many thanks to Angus

So pleased you got your car sorted by Angus. That man certainly knows what he is doing! One part of your story has made me ask if you went back to VSE explaining what had happened, and how they were responsible? More particularly what was their reaction? Enjoy your beautiful car, I know you will!
