Re: Rear Bumper Rubber

curl around the end of the bumper and be cut off more or less level with the bumper' I believe Simon is right. I think to remember carefully taking a detailed picture before disassembly but 1 hour picsearch turns up nothing. The rubber was pulled around the bend and cut or reduced or spliced on the...

Re: Help Wanted with Buying an E Type

Chris, welcome to the forum! This is the forum in all things E, anything you can think of regarding these cars, chances are good someone here is able to answer. A big help in gaining oversight of the model history, get the small (and to cheap) book „The Essential Buyer’s Guide“ from Peter Crespin. F...

Re: Reverse Gear

I‘m aware that oil should not make a difference of go or no-go, but changing the oil in my S2 Box did make a big difference in feel and in real shifting. RedLine MT90 Gearoil other products might just be as good, my only comparison is this against old smelly gook. When was your last oil change in th...

Re: Potholes

Chris, before the border fell we had a few trips over to east Germany to have some Mercedes chrome parts remufactured and others rechromed in Zwickau, the former site of Horch. The roads were dismal! Lots of Cobblestone in bad shape. Since those days a lot of money has gone into east Germany so that...

Jérôme, do not despair, apparantly you have come a long way! This is your first test drive great! Rome wasn‘t built in day and neither will your E be fault free in a few days. Take a break and enjoy your progress so far. Sorry I can‘t help with the technical stuff, keep at it one by one. Kind regard...

Re: Potholes

Steve, doing fine, thank you! I haven‘t read all the magazines yet, still working on that. I do have my E on the road so thats good. My goal achieved! To get it running, welded and roadtested without total disassembley. Hoping for 3000 miles this season, I‘ll see how that works out. Cyl #4 isn‘t coo...

Potholes

Together with my wife we spent a few days in Kent, and visiting Angus shop on Saturday. We‘ve been to England quite a few times over the years, also to Wales and Ireland. But good lord this year the potholes! Either my memory is slipping me or the state of pavement has deteriorated drastically. Tell...

Angus,

thank you and your men for opening up your shop on saturday. It was great to see your shop and see and hear how you and your men go about your business. I appreciate the attention to detail, and the handling of any issues. I‘m impressed!

Re: Series 2 soft tops

Grant,

A Mercedes without Sonnenland material just doesn‘t seem right. Similar, knowing vinyl was original on the E-type, it‘s uncomfortable for me to see mohair on an E-type. One day my (wrong but cheap) black/black vinyl will have to go.

Door hinge repair

Both doors on my ots hit the striker plate when closing. With the doors clearing the b-post, they lift by hand 4mm rhs, 8mm lhs. When closed, fit is good enough. The clonketyclonk when closing annoys me though. So the reamers arrived and the hinge is on the bench but alas, no play at all? How much p...

Hi Jerome, your car looks great! I really liked the colour combo and the overall condition when I saw it at Goodwood. The weather had it‘s bright spots, as my pictures show :) Nice car. Re: Garage Flooring

It really does not last well because when hot tyres get on it after a run, they tend to pick up the surface. I recently installed a sliding garage door with glas panels for a friend, in his new garage. Talking with the professional coater he mentioned it is not possible to get a durable adhesion be...

Nice job, congratulations on getting it done right! I'll be taking this on shortly thanks for the report. May I ask - what colour is your car and do you have a paint code you would share?

Re: Engine frames

Scott,

though I've not bought any frames (yet), I do have read quite a few threads on the topic and don't recall reading anything about any bad frames. I wouldn't hesitate using any of the usual vendors, especially if on a budget. E-Type fabs will give you bragging rights though.
