Re: B W 12 Automatic gearbox

Thanks guys, just to complicate matters, my car has the Lucas fuel injection system circa 1988. Had the conversion done about 8 years ago.

B W 12 Automatic gearbox

My Series 3 E Type as gradually developed problems in stalling when hot and in drive ( foot on brake ) typically at a stop light. Hot idle is set at the prescribed 800 to 750 rpm. We have checked timing, C O and both mechanical and vacuum advance. Any thoughts please. Thank, Phil

Re: Adjustable power steering

Hi Holger, I tried the kit ... didn't like it and sold it on. Went for a new fast rack from Vicarage in the UK - much better feel ( weight ), only compromise a slightly bigger turning circle. As it's a modern rack, looking forward to long life with no leaks.

Re: Hi Torque starter motor

Wow, thanks guys, overwhelmed by your responses. My car is fuel injected and an automatic - intrigued regarding different number of teeth auto to manual. Does this mean high torque starter LMS 017 isn't suitable for both transmissions?

Thanks in advance, Phil

Hi Torque starter motor

Hi, I am about to source a WOSP 017 high torque starter for my ( late engine number ) Series 3 - was wondering if anyone has experience with this upgrade eg wiring compatibility etc?

Thx, Phil

Miss fire on start up

Hi, my Series 3 was converted to EFI about 8 years ago and is normally a dream to drive. The conversion done by MC Wilkinson followed the AJ6 guidelines and used mainly new parts. Recently the car is hard to start from cold if humidity is above 85% ( not unusual in UK ) - the car is housed in a leak...

Wiper Blades ( refill )

Hi, anyone know where you can source refills in the UK? ( Series 3 DHC ). All the usual suspects expect you to buy the whole thing!

Re: Steering rack series 3

Hi Bob, I sourced from Vicarage a couple of years ago a rack and pinion ( kit ) which is a Ford product. I am more than happy with the conversion which gives a better weighted feel and less turns lock to lock. Also as a far more modern product, I've confidence that over time leaks are far less likel...

Header Tank Corrosion

I'm about to purchase new ( steel ) header tank after pin holes have appeared in the one currently fitted. Has anyone successfully coated interior of new tank to minimise corrosion? I don't want aluminium one as non standard appearance.

Adhesive number plate

After repaint I'm about to apply adhesive plate to the bonnet. It's been a few years since I did one and wonder if applying soapy water to area so as to slide plate into place while squeezing out any bubbles/rinkles is still best practice?

Rear Light Assemblies

Hi, about to receive my roadster back from a full repaint and will start refitting chrome work. Most is good but rear lights have pitted chrome. I understand Mazak is difficult to repair and re chrome. Anyone had experience with Barratts or Manners replica units. Particularly chrome longevity recogn...

GM TH 400 Auto box - Series 3 Etype

Thinking of converting my BW12 Auto equipped series 3 to 4 speed GM 400. Anyone with experience? Is it a worthwhile mod from a driving point of view?

Re: Series 3 Steering Upgrade

Hi, I am very pleased with Vicarage supplied power rack which while reducing number of turns lock to lock, gives good feel and more ' planted ' at speed. Unit is based a Ford product - original Saginaw P/S pump is maintained.

Terraclean

Hi, wondering if any member has experience with having their engine 'Terracleaned'. My Series 3 ( fuel injected ) has at 58000 miles never had the heads off so imagine well coked up over the years.
