Re: Mystery Bracket on right hand engine frame

Many thanks for the information.

My car is a '74 US spec with which originally had all of the emission control stuff fitted. I don't recall removing anything of significance from the bracket so maybe it is just to help tidy up the starter cable and hoses for the emission equipment.

Re: Mystery Bracket on right hand engine frame

Hello Bob

That is the bracket - It just seems a bit over the top for a simple 'P' clip....

Could it have another use on different specification cars?

Mystery Bracket on right hand engine frame

I am currently putting my S3 roadster back together. It was originally a late model ('74) US car with all the smog control on it but this has all been removed. I am trying to identify the triangular(ish) bracket with two holes in it that is welded onto the round diagonal brace tube on the right hand...

Clutch master cylinder spacer

I am converting a series 3 V12 auto to manual and need to install a master cylinder on the existing pedal box. I believe there is a spacer which is fitted between the cylinder and mounting but this is no longer available. Does anyone know how thick it is is that I can make one? I know this subject h...

Re: V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

Hello Simon

That looks the same as my bellhousing. The photo of the clutch fork is very helpful.

I suppose the most important question is do you like the gearbox?

Re: V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

Hello Philip Thanks for the information the TKO. I had thought about this box but it is quite expensive and the kit to relocate the gear lever adds a few £ to the price as well. The whine is enough to pout me off. On the plus side it looks like neat installation and the economy must be far better wi...

Re: V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

Thanks for the info. It could be a TWR bell housing. Unfortunately there is no release mechanism but making one should not be too tricky or I could use a hydraulic bearing. I could also modify it to allow me to use my T5 box (ex TVR) but it seems a pity to butcher a perfectly good bell housing for a...

Thanks for the reply.

A photo would be great. How do you find the gearbox?

Re: V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

Interesting. This is different to my bell housing. Are there other engines which share the V12 bolt pattern?

Re: V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear - I meant a V12 manual other than the E-Type. i.e. cars fitted with a Getrag 265 by Jaguar.

V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

As part of a Fuel injected V12 6.0 litre manual conversion I have bought a new 6.0 engine which has already been fitted with all the E-Type conversion parts. It turns out that the block has also been drilled and tapped for both the early and late gearbox stud patterns. I had planned on fitting a Tre...

Re: 6.0 V12 and 4 speed auto box transplant

Thanks MarekH I am looking for a relatively pain free experience and like the idea of the ECU manufacturer being able to run the car on their own rolling road to get a good map for the specific engine. Wiring and installing sensors etc is no problem but I don't want to go anywhere near the electroni...

Re: 6.0 V12 and 4 speed auto box transplant

I have had a look though some of the posts on EFI for the series 3 but most appear to be work in progress. I was keen to hear from anyone who has had a system up and running for some time and what they have found driving in the real world.

Re: 6.0 V12 and 4 speed auto box transplant

Since my initial post I have been very lucky and managed to find a brand new, complete, unused 6.0 V12. This is already fitted with all the E-Type parts and the full fuel injection system. It has the latest, high impedance injectors fitted from the final version of the V12 which was distibutorless a...

Re: 6.0 V12 and 4 speed auto box transplant

Hi

The car is already registered in the UK so hopefully this will not present too much of an issue. I am very keen to hear from anyone who has transplanted a late '90s V12 and gearbox into anything......

6.0 V12 and 4 speed auto box transplant

I am kicking ideas around regarding the engine and transmission in my US specification auto V12 DHC and I am looking for any information on transplanting the engine and gearbox from a late model XJ12 / Daimler Double Six. I have already priced up a full engine rebuild with a 6.1 litre conversion & t...

Re: Capacity and compression ratio increase

Thanks for the heads up on using an HE engine. Does the same apply to the 6.0 litre HE? Also, if I can find a late 6.0 HE engine with 4 speed auto is that worth fitting as a single unit? Beginning to wonder if a 6.0 HE with carbs may be the way to go with a Rushton Engineering conversion or my home ...

Re: Capacity and compression ratio increase

Thanks for the warning about the bell housing stud pattern. I plan to fit a manual gearbox but I will need to make sure I obtain the correct bell housing.
