Re: Christopher Storey

I met Christopher only once, at Oulton Park in Cheshire - I was in my e type and he told me he had taken a photo of it some years earlier at Donnington Park when it was under my uncle’s ownership. He offered to dig the photo out and send it to me. True to his word, he did just that and I have always...

Has anyone heard of problems with the welded input shaft of the Elite 5sp?
Worth noting that it is not Elite that weld input shafts but a company in your fair country. See JagLovers for plenty of info. Elite use the standard Tremec input shaft, at least for the XK engine.

Also, try looking up RG Bate in Birkenhead. Bob Bate is very good if he is still working.
Yes he is. He serviced my XK last month. Recommended.

Re: Run out in Cheshire, this Sunday 27th

Hi Simon, Many thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, that all rings a bell and it was of interest because we took part in the last Derbyshire run out which you organised. (mine is the green car you took photos of). I look forward to hearing if the event is successfully resurrected next year. Thanks aga...

Run out in Cheshire, this Sunday 27th

I’ve made a note of this in my diary but for the life of me I don’t know who’s organising it, if it’s still on or where it starts. Can anyone else shed some light on it please, as it might be of interest as the weather forecast looks half decent?

Many thanks

Re: Newbie!

This thread is intriguing as there seems to be contradictory understanding or interpretation of the SORN regulations so I had a dig around for some clarification and came across this government document about SORN. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1997/3025/made In it is this statement which seems...

Re: Newbie!

I’m with Christopher on this one. My understanding is that legally it needs to either be taxed (even if no money changes hand because it is a historic vehicle) or it needs to be SORNed.

Re: Has Anyone Fitted the Tremac 5 Speed ?

Yes. With 3.07 diff and 0.8 fifth gear. Seems to give 28mph per 1000 revs in 4th and 33mph per 1000 revs in 5th with standard (80%?) tyres.

Re: At long last

Learning how to upload pics How does one edit a picture, ie paint number plate out?????? Bob, you seem to have used a photo from the H&H Auctions website which may not be editable. Probably better to take your own photo, make any edits you want, then upload the edited version. Welcome to the forum ...

Re: Coolcat fan switch

I may even hide a “peace of mind” switch inside the car for those edgy moments in summer traffic! Pete Was your Kenlowe a two speed version? If it was, you can rewire the Kenlowe speed switch to be a simple on/off and it has the added benefit of illuminating whenever the fan is on. Because I don’t ...

I’ll add my thanks to Julian and his team for a very informative day and well done for embracing “Quality” in such a positive way. It can only be good for us all. On a personal note, I was so pleased to see Dave Adlington progressing through the company, as he was my sales contact 10 years ago when ...

Re: T5 gearbox

I run ATF in my T5 but I just found this interesting item on a TVR forum posted in 2015: “I've been in the ATF camp for years, there are three very good reasons why ATF works well in our T5 boxes. 1. Its free from corrosive sulphur 2. Its light enough to lubricate the needle roller bearings in the W...

Re: SNG Barratt User Group

A number of years ago I spent a reasonably large amount with SNG Barratt following the purchase of my car, including parts required for a full engine rebuild. The service and products I received were, on the whole, very good to acceptable and I have continued to purchase from them on an “as required...

Re: Sudden complete loss of fuel delivery

Hi Frank
If “not a drop of fuel coming through” didn’t actually mean that, then presumably it could still be electrical. Like something breaking down when it gets hot. Could be condensor, coil or the dreaded black rotor arm for example.

Correct for UK-sourced T5s - Cosworths, TVRs, etc. Got my clutch plate from Watjag, box from Elite. Bootiful.

Re: Clutch choices, and Release Bearing and Fork Woes

Rory, If you’re looking for a 9.5” friction plate then the item I purchased for my T5, back in 2010 is from AP Racing and has part number CP2346-4. It seems to have increased in price considerably in the intervening 8 years but there seems to be another plate with identical spec, a little cheaper, u...
