Looks good!

Suggestion : apply power to fans (high speed) and check what happens to the flaps. Consider that in the car, the flaps will be much more flexible at operating temp.

I upgraded my Butec alternator to a modern ex LR unit because I trusted low readings from the Battery gauge... Big mistake. Trusting the gauge, that is. As stated in post #1, its NOT about the 130A. It IS about the form factor and ease of installation.

:banghead: I may still replace the original Butec.... Having corrected the reasons for the false Battery Gauge readings, I now believe the alternator upgrade as per the first post may have been unnecessary and I do intend re-fitting the Butec at some point verify this. Will report back on this matt...

Unless you are going for 100% originality, I made a replacement plate from 10mm alu with a modern fan switch - which takes 6mm spade lugs.

Hi all, just fitted aSNG ignition kit, all went okay until it was time to set the ignition timing... I have no timing plate, I can find the A1 mark on the pulley , but I have nothing to set it against!!! The obvious thing to do is to get the timing plate that SHOULD be mounted below the crank pulle...

When I converted my S3 to EFI, I mounted the ECU (Megasquirt in my case) to the "ceiling" of the passenger footwell. Fit an easily removeable cover over it to prevent passengers from kicking the connector to the ECU.

Without a doubt, re-terminating the wires right on the connector pins is 1st prize. I have never looked at the connector with that in mind and can not advise on the feasibility of doing so. I would want to have a second connector on hand in case replacement pins are needed. A safer option is simply ...

All fitted, cranked the engine but it won't fire, no attempt at all. No spark from the coil to the distributor. . . However the Purple connects to Black and the Black connects to Red. The bottom line is that mixing electronics and high heat is NEVER a good idea. With a Series 3 rebuild I did for a friend, I mounted the AB14 amp (of an HE ignition system) right there inside the V where the OPUS amp was installed. This car drove faultlessly in > 38ºC temperatures with a tail wind. ...
