Re: Clutch master cylinder push rod length

Don’t forget you can fit an external spring as a temporary measure. (Carb return?)

Re: Engine rebuild, various questions, and - hopefully - some good ideas.

Take any burrs off the oil pipes into the oil pump before sliding the o ring over. I also put a slight chamfer on the pipe so everything slides together easily.

Re: Strange oil pressure, help please

Malcolm, first thing I would do is change the gasket for the correct type. There are lots of different gaskets used on the XK engines between oil filter housing and block. Get that right first then check. There could be a small hole covered, partially covered etc. Might not be the problem but best t...

Re: Anyone started to use their e-types yet?

Overnighting in Lille on way back home. 1500 miles around Germany. Only problem? Thought I had fitted original spinners years ago and it turns out I hadn’t. RHS front keeps needing to be tightened after some enthusiastic hair pins😡

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

CMC had a problem with a previous batch of splines - too much play. Happy to report that this issue is now resolved.

Side of the road last night. Public car park night before. Anyway, I’ll leave this pointless debate now.

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

Hmmm. I’ve used mine 6 times so far this week on a tour in Germany. As I sit here typing this, the wheel is on the floor in front of me. Guess I must be the exception then.

Re: Starting engine after lay up

Make sure you have the carbs adjusted properly - you don't want it going to maximum revs as soon as it fires!

Re: engine swap

Bill,

if it were my car (and it was driving ok) I'd wait until a complete 3.8 engine became available. You will then have a complete 4.2 engine to sell.

Re: OTS Door Glass

Its flocked on the inside where the glass runs and rubber on the outside. The ears are on the outside. We buy it from Hutsons. Both single eared and double eared are available (and no Rory, I don't want to get involved in selling this stuff! )

Re: OTS Door Glass

We use the glass guide with 2 ears. You have to put up with a window being a bit tighter than normal until you wear it in though.

Sounds like the mount for a series 2 rear view mirror. I wouldn’t try to remove it!
