Re: Dual Brake and Fuel Line clip C10268

Thank you for your feedback. I have looked at the Factory fit section without success. There is an underside picture of a LHD which has the brake pipe on the left hand side, no RHD unfortunately. Have contacted CMC as this clip was mentioned (no photo) in the restoration book of 564 DFJ, am also wai...

Re: Dual Brake and Fuel Line clip C10268

Hi, Appreciate it may be difficult to take a picture in the winter. Has anyone had experience of using this clip? I assume the brake pipe should go in first then the fuel pipe above it. My concern is that the brake pipe is not clipped just kept in place albeit with very little wriggle room by the la...

Dual Brake and Fuel Line clip C10268

Hi, Converting LHD to RHD using Mike Cassidy's articles, which I should say are great as I would have had no chance without them. I am on part 7, brakes and pipes. The original plastic fuel line is in place with clips C10268. From what I understand the new brake pipe run from front to back underneat...

Kelsey Hayes component

First time posting to the forum with a picture. I have almost completed the rebuild of my Kelsey Hayes unit using Mike Cassidy's fantastic articles. I had noticed when I disassembled the unit that the Baffle for the air filter parts catalogue number 8747/VBO.10019 was missing but did not start looki...

Thanks David. Yes the one I have seen today from one of the big suppliers is the same as Quentins car, Satin/Matt. It makes it look worse since my car is gloss black. The original heater box is similar to the original fit photo albeit with a metal push fit blower wheel and some additional screws on ...

David/Peter, Thank you for your feedback. I got to see an re-manufactured heater box from a large supplier today. Yes I would say it had a sheen, more Satin/Matt than Gloss/Satin. It does not help that my Car is a Gloss black! Having said that given the cost of blasting, spraying, new motor plus anc...

Heater Box Finish - Gloss or Satin

Hi, I have searched the forum and looked at the various books I own but cannot determine the finish on the heater box. The JCNA guide just says black, for Series II it says Gloss black. The various pictures of cars on line do not really help as many may have been replaced in the past. My original he...

Hi,

I have an early steering wheel that has a a few splits in the wood.

Have contacted Len Chandler, he no longer restores Etype wheels.

I have found a few restorers on a Google search but wondered if anyone could recommend.

Kind regards

Ian

Replaced 3 core plugs in situ. My car came over from California, although the engine had been worked on the core plugs, at least some of them looked at though they had just been put in with some hylomar but left as is and not flattened. Plus there was a very low coolant/water mix, little to prevent ...

OTS Boot Floorboards

In the process of a tidying up the boot area. Removing stuck down black carpet, pieces of hardboard that covers tank and spare etc. I purchased new boot floorboards and boot kit. Looking through the parts catalogue there appears to be a metal strip attached to the board that covers the tank to suppo...

Hi,

Further update.

Haddocks book - Early cars fitted with Lucas Pacemaker P/N CP 13/11-8, later cars had P/N XC55/8 battery.

Does anyone have the dimensions of these original Lucas batteries.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes on my previous SII must have had over an inch from what I can remember with the same size/spec battery. I am beginning to think either batteries were smaller on the earlier cars or there has been a repair that is not quite right.

Further comments welcomed.

Battery Carrier / Battery

Hi, My battery fits onto the tray, the top of it just touches the lower part of the heater motor which I think is wrong. A SII I had with the same spec lincon battery battery had reasonable clearance. The battery clamp (which I believe is original) also does not fit the lincon battery. Do early etyp...

Many thanks for the photo - I have similar mounts just need to find the correct horns.

I have a 61 but just one modern horn fitted in an incorrect convenient place.

Does anyone know the difference between horns C17192/C17193 (Early chassis) and C19080/C19081 (Late chassis).

Does anyone have photos of an early Series 1 horn?

I believe they are Lucas 7H, can anyone confirm? Think later Series 1 were Lucas 9H.

Looks like my USA manufactured tyres are 3 digit without delta, I would guess 83... Seems a shame really but rubber degrades and safety is paramount etc.

In order to avoid a huge cost on tyres has anyone tried 195/65R15 on their wheels. These seem to be a common size and therefore much, much cheaper.

Wire Wheels

Need to replace my wheels, although serviceable most of the chrome has gone on the spokes and rims. I believe they are original but the tyres are 195/75R15 not 185HR15. Ideally I would like to keep the tyres, they are in good condition and have little wear. It is likely due to advice I will plump fo...
