Re: What is this car

Sorry Christopher....the OD is very much still there.....I have even cleaned the oil filter....at present it is non working but that is due to an issue with the solenoid which will be a bugger to remove....I even have an old service report indicating it has worked....my car is proof that it can be d...

Re: UK changing to E10 fuel

IMO the gloom and gloom stories are over blown. Use the car regularly so you don't wind up with stale fuel and ensure regular maintenance and particularly checking of rubber fuel lines and E10 is unlikely to cause major issues....it won't eat through your fuel tank and is unlikely to cause major iss...

Re: What is this car

So while I know the general view is that you can't fit an overdrive box in a S1 or 2 FHC...you can....my S1 3.8 FHC has an OD box, I think, from an S type....small amount of tunnel work was done by a previous owner to get it to fit but my car is proof it can be done  My old moss box is in th...

I'd agree..FHC look better anyway    ..DVLA may issue a new chassis no and even the dreaded Q plate.....so mandatory MOT and no free car tax either..

You can get a whole new tracker for a 1/4 of that cost.....IMO an alarm is of limited use...

Www.classic-tracker.co.uk for example

Forgive me if you know this but the tank drain sump unscrews in its entirity....certainly with it in place removing the tank is impossible.

Re: JLR Win Copyright on C type

Grace...Space....pace....It is just perfect.....probably a few chaps steeped in engine oil and gear ratios came up with it over coffee and biscuits and possibly the odd pipe....cost to Jaguar...hours wages and some coffee and biscuits...wonder what JLR spent on the above!!! Loved the old MG one too....

Old V5

Not strictly E.type but Jaguar related. Friend of mine has been going though old papers of a deceased relative and came across an old Brown V5 for a Mk II 2.4 Jaguar in Golden Sand. Checking the no plate it is still on DVLA records although showing no MOT information and Not taxed for road use. Howe...

Re: JLR Win Copyright on C type

Afraid it is a perfect PR piece to try out your bullshit bingo game. Not exclusive to JLR...afraid all big corporates and multinationals do it. Lots of big words whose combined effect is utterly meaningless....keeps armies of otherwise useless individuals in employment though! Right now they would b...

Re: Advice on Lead loading

As Andrew says. Heat with a torch and it will melt and can be scraped off. Melts at about 328 deg C....assuming the lead is pure and not alloyed with other metals such as tin to reduce its melting point. Lead is toxic if ingested but so long as you are wearing a mask and gloves the risk is infinites...

Re: S1 Front Brake Caliper strip and plating

Don't think the bores themselves should be plated. Not sure the pin can be removed. I stripped mine and rebuilt....always use new seals....but I sprayed mine with silver caliper paint.....then decided to upgrade to Cooper craft calipers so mine are wrapped up on a shelf in the garage

Left hooker is not much of an issue....makes overtaking a bit more tricky but the e has such huge torque acceleration is rapid. You may pay a little more for insurance. Conversion is,of course, eminently possible but far from cheap! The horrible black monstrosities can be removed fairly easily and t...

Re: UPGRADE WIPER MOTOR?

Implementing an intermittent wipe is relatively easy. All you need to do is briefly ground the wire that goes.to the park contact. The wipers will then do one cycle. Kits are available.
