Not sure what a vintage air system is but it rather sounds as though the alternator is not generating much output. The voltage at the battery should be around 13.8-14.2 at anything above 1000 rpm with an alternator and unless your air system uses 40 + amps the alternator should be able to supply all...

Peered at mine. There is a Lucas blade terminal on the small bolt that secures the operating cable clamp to the cable on the heater valve. It has a pair of black ground wires running into the loom that feeds the washer bottle.... :bigrin:

Think you will find there should be a spade terminal on one of the bolts that hold the heater tap (if memory serves) . Your ground terminal pops on there...

For what its worth I would agree with Steve. If you are getting up to 70 psi there is something wrong. My, admittedly well used engine gets to about 40 psi max at 3000 rpm and drops to about 15-20 max at idle.

Not having a V12 myself other may know better but they all look pretty close. I'd say compression wise you are ok. My xk six showed around 160 +/- 10 or so. So yours are very similar. Next thing I'd do is crank the engine with no plugs etc and just check that you do get some oil pressure. Ideally us...

Could be the pope that leads up to the cams. Check the banjo joint close to the water tap on the block. Could be a blockage in the crankcase breather meaning at high revs there is excess pressure in the crank case that is forcing oil past a seal somewhere...

The wiper and the low Fulbright are both diced from fuse 7. The map light is fed from fuse 8. I'd echo all the above comments. The conversion is purely a mechanical exercise all be it with some trim and major mechanical bits to be replaced. Crunchy gears are usually a dragging clutch. Reverse has no synchromesh so it will be obvious. Best to disable the ignition by removing one of the low tension wires to the coil. Make sure it cannot short to ground by taping up just in case. Remove all twelve plugs. Make sure the loose plug leads cannot fall into any drive belts etc. Fit the compression tester to cylinder one. Crank for say 10...

Looks like a pertonix type module. If the tachometer dropped to zero there was an interruption in the low tension side of the coil so either the module is failing or there is a poor earth or there is a break in the feed from the battery to the tachometer and on to the coil...or possibly a fuse is no...

As Ian says get a red rotor arm. If you have electronic ignition there won't be a condenser. It may be an earth issue somewhere. Unless the voltage falls below about 10 volts the car should run .

If it cut out completely I'd be looking at the low tension side first. Wires to the coil. Check the wire to the points. Change the condenser just in case. That's the recommended in the works manual although 40psi for max speed if memory serves me right. I run mine at 32 lb all round...
