Re: Cam Cover sealing...again

Smear the new cam cover gasket with oil or grease and leave it to soak for some hours. A DRY paper gasket will not do the job properly.

Re: Fuel smell - What aternative to Hylomar ?

If you want a better gasket for the fuel sender, far better than the cork gasket, turn to a Volvo dealer (Volvo construction machines, s a wheel loaders, excavators, dumper trucks etcetera) and ask for a gasket with part number ZM2906069. No sealant needed for that one.

Re: thermostats

If you do not have thermostats monted, the bypass will constantly be open. This will result in that you will have only maybe 50% cooling capacity as half of the cooling liquid will flow through the bypass instead of through the radiator. You can see the bypass port in the bottom of the thermostate h...

My experience is that if you by mistake have been supplied shock absorbers for XJ (your SPAX) the difference in length is about 15 - 20 mm. They are similar in al other matters. i e XJ shocks are shorter than E S3 shocks. It makes about one inch in difference of riding hight.

I noticed this subject too late. I think there are one or two NOS (even RHD) still available in ancient parts businesses in Sweden. The demand for parts for classic Jaguars in Sweden is limited - most of us buy from GB. However, here are maybe two to four old parts dealer with old stock of parts sti...

I remember seeing one of these at Beaulieu Auto Jumble in 1989 or 1990. It was built on Ford chassis Components. I can see that the car on your photo has Ford Wheels. It is a kit Car/Replica. I was surprised to find a replica of an E-type in 1989. Why buy/build a replica when you could buy the real ...

That is the OE type. I have the impression that the centre part in fact is a round wire ring fitted in a groove at the edge of the disc, making it look like tree layers. I Think I remember seing a disc there this ring was rusted away, making the groove visible. I might be wrong here...

Are you sure that you have the right thermostate? Most (all?) Jaguar Engines need a themostate th?hat has a sleeve that Cuts of the bypass channel. If you have a traditional theromostate without the sleeve 50% of the coolant will take a short cut via the bypass and NOT through the radiator to be coo...

I have a Mk7 "M" with new Dunlop radial tyres. I drive this car a lot. I know that radial tyres has a bad reputation, but I think that is mostly because people experiense aged tyres only. The handling is very good. The car looks very good. You can drive with a slight skid without loosing grip. On th...
