The needles are parallel so it’s an easy mod providing your cage is serviceable.

Re: Upper Steering Column Bearings
Hi Steve, apologies didn’t realise it was the plastic cage you wanted to replace, cage must be common to Jaguar steering column of late 60s early 70s. Good luck with your search.

Re: Upper Steering Column Bearings
Hi Steve, that’s the same as my column, I reused the plastic cage as the old needles just press out and refitted my modded needles into the old cage, it was simple todo and only took me a couple of hours to compleat. Hope this helps, Julian. https://i.postimg.cc/BnjLFqNR/11-BB4952-D766-4399-9-EA2-01...

Re: Upper Steering Column Bearings

I done the same when I refurbished my motor you can ease the bush back into its housing with three small screwdrivers and a extra pair of hands.

Many thanks for all your replies, I hope as it’s just a basic stripdown replacement of crank seals and gaskets it won’t to much money, I’ll let you all know how I get on.

Re: Triple SU rebuild
I have just finished refurbing my SU’s, there should be a cone shaped brass washer between spring and O ring on the slow run valve. I had no large washer at the base of the dash pot spring and it’s not listed on Bulens parts list so I assumed it wasn’t required, I also had a small amount of spindle ...

Re: Engine frames.
Sorry to be negative however I agree with Stuart it’s not good welding, looks to me the MIG has been setup to cold and there doesn’t appear to be good penetration, and there is also porosity on at least one of the welds that needs grinding out and re welding, I would have personally TIG welded them....
