Re: U-Pol Raptor under seal

It is commonly used as an undercoating. If you go to YouTube and search for "raptor liner undercoating" you'll find lots of examples. This guy appears to be an enthusiastic amateur and goes through the whole process (including tinting) so you may find some insights. Warning, he tends to ramble. http...

Re: Photobucket - Warning, do not use

Didnt see this mentioned before so thought I'd share. Like many others the Download Album 'feature' of PhotoBucket would always fail for me. I found a Chrome Extension called Photobucket Album Downloader (Unlimit) which costs $2US. I used it to recover all of my images in a few minutes. After the fi...

Re: Rear inner fulcrum shaft mounts.

You might try Welsh Enterprises in the States. They have a big Jaguar salvage operation and with the US being the primary destination for e-types there is a good chance they'll be able to help you.

Re: Moss Jaguar - Restoration work

It's beautiful. I do wish there was a wider angle shot of the interior that included the car. One particularly striking aspect of the car is how smoothly the light flows down the side of the car in the rear three-quarter view. In most similar photos I recall, the light is wavy as if the panels and d...

How to remove C20179 oils seal retainer from outer IRS fulcrum

I'm replacing the felt with a modern seal but it is not obvious to me how to remove the C20179 oils seal retainer; a small metal cup pressed into the hub.

Thanks!

Re: Installing axle shaft seals - Is it possible?

Thanks all. Misery loves company! Ok, followups... JagWaugh No. There is absolutely no way there is any residual seal material. The 5/8" thick ones were rubber coated and came out without much difficulty. The bores are clean and beautiful with no weird ridges or other anomalies. I have the old seals...

Installing axle shaft seals - Is it possible?

Trying to install the DIFFERENTIAL OUTPUT OIL SEAL 8436A* and they do not fit in my Type3 diff. I hollowed out the inside a pvc schedule 40 cap so that its inside edge cleared the inner lip and spring and was just inside the outside ring. But as I press it in (with a press) you can see the outside r...

Very nicely done!

Any chance the "View posts since your last visit" will return? Loved that.

I'd give it a try just for fun. If it doesnt work the worse thing you lose is an exhaust manifold gasket and some mig wire. ChuckE2009 has several videos on Migging cast iron here . There are others on YouTube if you search. IIRC, to have a chance you need to heat the piece for many hours to out gas...

Mine had sharped edged thin sheet metal "plugs" that seemed more likely to seed rust than to prevent ingress of water or exhaust fumes. I suspect that's factory. In addition to eBay, Amazon has rubber grommet (with holes) and plug assortments by Cal-Hawk . There are plastic plugs available too but m...

Oh, my understanding is that 2+2 is very different from OTS/FHC in the floors. Mine is an OTS so just pretend I never posted. 8)

Not sure these are the ones to which you are referring. Sounds like it. Mine are the same on both sides. A big bolt/nut and a small bolt/nut. Neither set of nuts is welded to the frame.

Rear end, diff rebuild parts list

I'll be moving to rebuilding the rear end here shortly and wanted to order the parts. From another thread I saw the consensus on shocks was Boge -> Gaz -> Koni. Anyone know the difference between the Welsh Boges vs the XKS Boges ? They are visibly very different in the pictures. Does anyone have a s...

Andrew, please report back if you find out on your own. While working on the cockpit I removed the brake/clutch pedals but the throttle pedal looked involved so I masked it up and moved on to other things. I would love to know how it is supposed to be disassembled.

Thanks!
