Re: V12 not running right - new SNG Barrat ignition
The throttle linkage is connected to both sides of the carbs. I have tuned them according to some things i've read along with the manual. Back off all the carb idle screws/carb balance screw and start with carbs in the back and get eh idle to 750 while having the pressure gauge over the air inlet th...

Re: V12 not running right - new SNG Barrat ignition
Thank you for the responses and advice. The vacuum retard on the distributor is capped and will stay that way. The emissions parts were removed before i bought it. On the driver side intake, if i remove the small hose going to the carbs or remove the larger hose going to the vacuum tank, the engine ...

Re: S3 V12 Stromberg/Dizzy vacuum pipes
I just installed the SNG Barret ignition system and i am in the process of tuning it. As stated above, the book says the static is 12 degrees btdc for 97 octane and 8 degrees btdc at 95 octane. Where i am located in the US, the octane is 92-93. What should the static timing be and what should the ti...

Re: Coolant is crystalizing in bottom of radiator hoses
I removed more of the cooling system last night, and the water pump. There was a tiny bit of gunk on the pump, but nothing major and moved freely. The passages behind the pump into the block didn't show much either, which is good. The thermostat housing and those passages showed some gunk, along wit...

Re: Coolant is crystalizing in bottom of radiator hoses
I'm hoping my water pump doesn't look like that when i remove it! The car had standard orange anti freeze in it. It may have originally had green antifreeze, but was drained when i replaced all the hoses. When i installed the hoses a few years ago, there were no signs of anything like there is now. ...

Coolant is crystalizing in bottom of radiator hoses
1973 E-type v12 series 3. 87k miles. My father and I bought the car 6-7 years. Around 4 years ago i removed the radiator to have a leak fixed. While i had the radiator out, i replaced all the hoses, thermostats and associated items since most of them were possibly original. The car then sat in the g...

I was able to solve the problem by replacing the reaction valve at the end of the master cylinder. I already had a replacemtnt in a box of parts, so it worked out well. Now, you really need to press the pedal to get the car to stop. I can hear a bit of hissing near the booster. Obviously, some of th...

Brake pedal hard as a rock, brakes locked on.
Last year i replaced the brake master cylinder after it failed. The clutch master cylinder recently starting failing as well, and i replaced it. I bled the clutch system and works as it should. Calum, Thank you for your response. After looking at pictures i found online of cars that have had the emissions removed, i hooked up a few hoses to the bypass valves on the carbs and capped anything else. I put the car back together this weekend and it started up perfectly on Sunday afternoon. The ...
