Re: SU carb blockage?

I had the same issue after the complete rebuild of the car. My pump was running but no petrol arrived to the filter, I took a seringue, plugged it on the pipe after the filter and vaccumed in order to have the pump properly feeded. If the petrol filter is not full it is a pump issue / fuel lines / f...

Re: alternator not charging S1 4.2

I’d start by checking if the alternator relay is working. It’s located on the LHS mudshield, and disconnects the alternator from the battery when the ignition is off. I don't have alternator relay on my car (65) I think it appeared on later cars (67/68). Which version of 4tr do you have? There’s ve...

Re: alternator charging and ignition light S1 4.2

To test the alternator with the engine running, measure the voltage across the battery terminals. It should be around 14 volts. Hello, I know I have 12,5V this is why I know the alternator is not charging at all and I have several questions : -How to test the alternator itself engine running ? -How...

Re: HD8 carb issue

Re: HD8 carb issue

Not sure I follow the logic. The carb shouldn’t flood regardless of needle type, or even with no needle or piston at all. logic is very simple engine and piston movement create a intake under pressure, which generate piston displacement, the thinner is the needles the bigest is the gap with the jet

Re: HD8 carb issue

Gentlemen, short update, flooding is coming from wrong carburetor needles ... ordered new at SNG baratt in the section 4.2 they propose "SC" needles, as you can see on the picture below they are completely different from the "UM" ones : https://i.postimg.cc/8k0BkZXQ/IMG-4766-1.jpg https://i.postimg....

Re: HD8 carb issue

Good evening Gentlemen, first of all thanks for the comments, so let me precise : @Christopher : needles valves are new from Burlen. You are right for the 4 options, but I observed the same "flooding" with fuel supply disconnected  Tonight I re-adjusted the jet at the same level (picture below...

HD8 carb issue

Hello, This weekend, first restart of the etype after 2 years of restoration. I fully rebuilt the HD8, but I have a "flooding" issue (see picture below). I initially thought to fuel pump pressure or float chamber level / needle and seat + float. I disconnet the fuel supply, rechecked once again floa...

Re: 4.2 starter motor wiring

Hello Andrew,

Thanks for the explanation, clear for the power lead it's connected and ok !

The red white is well connected also to the right place. So this Brown/black should go elsewhere then, any idea ?

It is the same than the one of ignition light on the speedo.

Thanks in advance
