Re: Photobucket - Warning, do not use

My photos still show up on the forum, maybe because I pay PB now for my storage as I exceeded the free storage limit.
And I pay nothing like 399usd.

Re: Fuel lines and brake lines series 1 ots

Hi I'm sure Dave will explain that you should post technical queries in the technical section or in series 1 section as this is intended for restoration stories/galleries. The info you request is detailed in the knowledge base and manuals, do you have any, if not you are going to need them :scratchh...

Re: Pippa's Wedding Car

I see 77RW quite often as live not far away. The car is on permanent loan (when he dies JLR get it) to JLR who also maintain it. He paid £400 for it in 1967, its doors were welded shut due to rust then. He had financial issues which meant the deal suited both parties. Mike can use it whenever JLR do...

Re: Waterproof Travelling Cover - and odds on staying dry ?

That is exactly what I have been looking for for both my E type and sons MX5 race car which is open.
Just bought one so thanks guys :thankyouyellow:

Touring France last summer the car got soaked during an overnight thunderstorm and the cover I have is too big and heavy to carry around on holiday.

Re: Opalescent Golden Sand... would anyone repaint an E-Type in this colour?

Hi Andrew Dave has posted the restoration thread of our car above. I had never even heard of OGS when we got the car but we decided to go for originality. Since completion, the car has been to quite a few shows and won many awards and the FIRST thing everyone says they like about it is its colour :y...

I highly recommend Aldridge trimming, they have made two lots of seats for us, the orginal ones and some MX5 ones and they did a wonderful job both times. Here is a picture of them side by side.

Re: bonnet wiring loom fitting question.

Access isnt that easy on S3's through the headlight aperture as there isnt a big gap behind them. Access via the indicator openings is probably the easiest way, taking the bonnet off wont help that much really. The loom can be fished through the bonnet underpan easy enough, making the connections an...

Re: Front Frames to washer or not to washer

Hi Andrew This has been discussed a few times, my take on it is as follows; 1. No washers on bulkhead engine bay side,... but make sure original or repro shouldered bolts are used, also when tightening the bolts, try and keep the engine side bolt head static and turn the nyloc underneath (with washe...

Re: head studs -- what have I done...?

Jeremy I had to remove my head due to an annoying oil leak not very long after it was restored, if you look at this link there are some pictures. http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9020 The tips I would give you are as follows; 1. Get a timing key and timing tensioner tool, both cheap. 2. ...

Re: head studs -- what have I done...?

I agree with Peter.

Taking the head off isnt a huge job, you can also then check out ALL the studs and/or replace them, easily helicoil any damaged threads, decarbonise the engine and head, clean out all the waterways and generally improve performance.

Do it right, do it once.

Whatever works, probably up as less weight on the top of the hinge then. Opposite for the other side of the hinge.

Re: Adjusting the bonnet

Now there is a question with about 14 answers! as many ways there are of adjusting the bonnet :wrench: :hammer: You will need to add shims to the top of the LHS hinge, its not uncommon to then find the hinge bolts are too short and you may need to use longer ones. When you do that another consequenc...

Re: Head gasket

No they are not silicone. Wellseal was developed by Rolls Royce, its quite liquidy and needs to be applied to all 4 surfaces and left 10-15 mins to go tacky but you dont need much. Seems to work really well.

Hi Mats The gasket that is correct for your 1966 4.2 engine is shown below. http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/yy102/AltyIan/P3070446_zpsz9rcsh9l.jpg Although as Chris says the later gasket would "work" I have my doubts that the engine cooling would be quite as efficient with reduced waterways and t...

Where did you get that done and what equipment did they use?

When I tried the spinners got in the way of the devices fitting on the wheels.

Yes its easy, I just did the same with mine.
Just send it to speedograph Richfield and they will do it for you quickly and professionally.
http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/
Go on their website as you need to take a couple of measurements to get it accurate to suit your wheel/tire size.
