Re: Black flag, or half mast?

I was just a little too young to properly remember his commentary unfortunately. After watching a few races when I was tiny, I distinctly remember following the 2003 F1 season, but that was 2 years after he retired. Certainly remember his voice from every historic race, and all the charms and turns ...

Re: 1:8th e type model

I would love to have a go at one, I particularly fancy a crack at the wheels (am I mad?) which I'm sure would look terrific on my own 1:8 creations too  https://i.imgur.com/dCYNZbc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lsVOPQR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tm3VrZz.jpg I simply cannot justify spending 850 quid on ...

Re: Mechanic Recommendation near Cheshire, Manchester, Lancs?

Can't help you with Cheshire/Manc, I'm afraid, but another Derbyshire contact to add to your list would be Paul Brown, in Ripley nr Derby. Huge amount of experience with all series of E-Types (there are members on here who have had Series 3s restored by him) and always happy to help or answer questi...

Christmas lights

Aside from driving every other household occupant mad, is there another reason why the "smashing" Christmas lights have not appeared at the top of the homepage this year? (at least for me anyway)

Re: FINISHED!

Thank you everyone  Having done two of these now (one in ca. 3 months and one in 5 years) I'm not sure I could attempt another. In terms of man hours, I dare bet there's 1,000 hours in that OTS (building, painting, researching, head scratching, sourcing bits, 500 hours constantly fixing the ...

Re: FINISHED!

Thanks, James. I've fooled a few people already! This little project demonstrates a classic trait of mine. You'll all laugh at this, but I'm not creative. I say creative, what I tend to refer to is "freehand creative" - ask me to draw that now, it'd be terrible. Ask me to draw an E-Type (or anything...

Thank you everyone :) It's nice to know I'm not writing complete rubbish, which I can guarantee is not always the case! Really enjoyed writing for the magazine, and will crack on with more soon

FINISHED!

And so, almost 5 years to the day after starting work on the first pieces, I present to you all (on a slightly damp car park!) my 4.2 OTS. Just a shame I can't drive it, but I'll bring it along to the next forum meet  I am, overall, quite pleased with it. Aimed for perfection, came reasonabl...

Wow, fantastic stuff gents! A professional photoshoot and a nice glossy article featuring your own cars. Looks great - how long is the magazine on sale for? I'll pick a copy up next time I'm out and about

Have I taken over the magazine?!

For those of you who receive the E-Type Club magazine, I rather appear to have taken over this month! I do hope you enjoy the two articles from me this month, I would love to know you thought they read  The Mulhouse museum trip was adapted from my Forum write-up - you can find a conden...

Re: Forum Magazine Article

Thanks, Steve. Hopefully it's another step on the journey to everything. Started at uni 6 years ago now - 4 years since heading out for my year abroad. Scary stuff! I have said the same thing to most of my family - look at the title, the bio and be content at that, since it may as well be written in...

Re: S1 (4.2) vs S3

Hi Philip The S1 is indeed very impressive. Although I haven't driven a 3.8 myself (nor a S3, although I have driven a 4.2), I have spent plenty of time as a passenger in both types of S1. To me at least, they're are notably different in feel. Whilst the 4.2 has more low-down torque and seems a litt...

Re: GB Classic Trim Nuneaton

Seen some beautiful interiors finished by them out and about. Very impressive job. On another note, following a conversation at XK70, Graham Watkins was also kind enough to provide me with some biscuit leather offcuts (all I really needed) for my roadster model FOC. This was particularly good of the...

Re: X-Type project

Thank you, Tom, I do enjoy the mini projects and I was surprised how quickly this came together. Then again, 1:18 scale is a lovely scale to work on - you can do plenty but it doesn't take you ages like maybe 1:8 does. Chris - the shape of the dashboard makes it quite challenging, if it were a littl...

Hi Ray

Yes, no problem, we'll keep Forum members posted as well.

Absolutely - Richard and I happened to be behind your car last year on the run for most of the way, which meant we got some excellent shots!

Take care for now

Re: Run out in Cheshire, this Sunday 27th

Hi Ray The event you're thinking of was the Great North Run in our (Derbyshire/Cheshire) region of the E-Type Club, organised by Jonathan Mitchell. Starting point was The Windmill at Tabley (right next to Junction 19 of the M6). Richard and I were also meant to be hosting a breakfast meeting at Hass...

Re: Diamond Jubilee E-Type's

Usually one for the enthusiastic responses, but I can't say I was particular enthused/excited by this announcement either. None of those cars will ever see the light of day on the road and will live in a private collection somewhere. It is in no way appealing to the vast number of Jaguar enthusiasts...
