Re: Hard tops
Given the completely different shape of the hard top I would imagine that a factory head lining would not fit properly. There are the rear buttresses to do as well, but we are already on the case! The hard top, as you suggest, will, on reflection be gunmetal and the roof lining probably white, since...
Re: Hard tops
Things I have pondered many times! My impression is that we have the three latches on the screen rail, two bolts where the soft top hinges, and one will use the boot latch. I could be way out of course. The boot lid will have to come off and possibly the soft top, and I would imagine that the fuel f...
Re: Hard tops
Well, three years on from my original post, a W&P Sebring hard top turned up on Ebay and I am now the proud owner. In bits and primered, but all there including the rear window and rubber seal, plus the little side windows. More anon.

Re: Wow that's expensive
There were only four OBL RHD FHC's and none of them were painted red. The optional display box/stand is an extra £2,500 so top of the book case is a bargain! And to think that the owner of 860002 paid £3,000 for the real car   https://i.postimg.cc/50R2h5K6/AFD-250-low-res.jpg

Re: Wow that's expensive
I've been told (but not verified) that these are in resin, not metal. A good look at the seats seems to confirm this to my ageing eyes. Ans when I think that this cost under £400 in 1:12 I know which I prefer. In fact, all of these cost less than £1,000 combined. https://i.postimg.cc/y8Vmqgys/D-type...

Thanks people. I've dropped them a line and shall await their reply. I did find other conversions but only made in LHD configuration.

Re: LED & PL700
I'm confused. People with E Types use their headlights?? :wow: It would have been rather difficult to drive from St Tropez to Le Mans overnight in 1994 if I didn't have any I think, and nor from Le Mans to Rijeka leaving at 2am and arriving at 9pm there   And thanks Heuer; always ...

Just an update on the Butler chromes. I was told recently that RS Panels make them at £50 a pair.

LED & PL700
Just a quickie. I want to upgrade the car to LED lights, but each time I look there are no bulbs available for the original headlights. Have I missed it and has someone made any as yet? I saw an early car which had been upgraded and was most impressed, especially with the dashboard lighting. Easy to...

Re: E-Type major price correction expected?!
I followed that one out of interest, and the selling price was probably down $100,000 on 2018 prices. But hey, we here are enthusiasts aren't we? As I have often said, in 1990 my car was worth £25,000, in 1991 £75,000, and in 1992 £25,000 on a good day. I missed roadster #22 at auction then; complet...

Re: Virtual classic car show
A rally in the Dordogne 2007. Technically there are three E-types here because the D-types are Lynx built on the base of an old E-type. https://i.postimg.cc/c1ps1ZgH/IMG-1286.jpg No E-type (well a Lynx converted one) but the photo is taken in front of Bill Heynes farmhouse. https://i.postimg.cc/jSKg...

Not something you see every day - three commemoratives together. The second photo was taken in Florida when I interviewed Walter Hill. His was the most fabulous collection of Jaguars, including this commemorative and #27 RHD E-type. https://i.postimg.cc/MGbWSpC2/Three-commemoratives-together.jpg htt...

Re: My missing V12 roadster
I can remember the first 50p gallon and the first £1 gallon. I never bought petrol for shillings. But some did. Youf, that's what you are. I remember 4/6d a gallon (that would be 24.5p to you sir) and I remember the Suez ration books. My Dad had a garage and at 11 I was serving petrol out of school...

Shows up on the DVLA as currently taxed:-

And the car seems to go to the MOT station (or did) and back and that's about all looking at the MOT statistics:-

Curious LHD roadster
Firstly, the photos can be found here:- https://www.caranddriver.com/photos/g18039620/1961-jaguar-e-type-road-test-review-gallery/ I find it an interesting car with lots of peculiarities. Outside locks yet double boot hinges for one - or were the double hinges introduced before the inside locks? Any...

Re: E-Type vs 250 GTO?
Seen the Aussie group three times, and the last time (April 2019) they had vastly improved, the light show lasers being exceptional, and they have gone back in time to the more technical music of the early days, plus of course the standards. I have seen the originals three times between the 70's and...
