Re: Over excited soon to be owner

You should have gone for the OTS and bought one of my windbreakers, no buffeting with that fitted  Dave Yup! 70 mph with Dave's windbreaker feels like about 35 mph. He should pay me for these testimonials. Dave, have you started making them for Series 3's? Hi Mark, Not yet but I have...

Re: S1 New Data Plates

Pete, The ETF one is a photo etched one, it is as they an exact replica of the original plate, I supplied my 1961 plate to Uryk and he has made it an exact match, he even had a set of stamps made as per the original font. If you buy one and supply the info from the plate it will be stamped up, not s...

Re: S1 New Data Plates

There is another option ETF make identical VIN plates to the original through Hutson, if you give Andy a ring he will tell you the cost for the complete plate stamped in the correct font.

Re: New Boy

Marie Clair used mine for a glamour shoot in London a few years ago and it turned out to be a disaster for me, puncture and a parking ticket because I filled out the parking permit incorrectly, then a tow truck turned up to take it away I had to wait with the car because it kept coming back-thanks C...

Re: Photobucket - Warning, do not use

Someone asked me the other day about the handbrake mod, it appears the photos have gone so I did a search on google and the write up along with photos from the old site came up. I managed to copy the write up and photos to my laptop OK.

Re: Volvo calipers

Just to update the write up, I did a few sets for owners and found by removing the pistons and using a 2 mm dia extra long drill bit I could drill through without splitting the calipers, just be careful you don't drill right through like someone I know did, they filled the hole with quick metal so i...

Re: Volvo calipers

Hi Tim,

I did the Volvo brake upgrade years ago but with solid discs, I did a write up that tells you all you need to know http://www.jcna.com/library/tech/tech0031b.pdf

You will need to modify it slightly if fitting vented discs but the work involved is still basically the same.

Re: The end for the MOT for vehicles of historic interest

So with the end of the MOT for vehicles over 40 years old it must mean that they will no longer have to be SORN'd?

As other have said I will continue to have mine MOT'd.

Re: Dimensions of boot floor boards - S1 roadster

For info I had some of the metal boot board supports made in st. steel years ago when I needed one, still have some left in my garage if anyone needs one. They are blank so you would have to drill the holes etc.

Re: Flat Floor experts!

David has a bee in his bonnet about flat floors, I sometimes think there must be a bit green in his eye. Basically the only difference between the first 500 and my car is the outside bonnet locks. There are the first 500 then the rest of the flat floors and then the rest are just standard issue E-Ty...

I found it interesting that JLR went for a numbers matching car, obviously they think its important? I can see the mechanics at JLR wondering around their workshop when they get a delivery of parts saying these are crap, you have to fettle everything to make it fit, welcome to our world  Dave

Re: Brake pad upgrade

I used Greenstuff pads when I had standard Dunlop brake calipers on my 3.8 and they transformed the braking, nice smooth bite and no heart stopping moments when you think the brakes aren't working. I used them once in anger when someone braked hard in front of me after a rabbit ran out and they did ...
