Re: Outer Sill Fitting advice please

+1 on Monocoque Metalworks. Chuck's parts are spot on. MR sills had the wrong radius for my early 62 FHC.

Re: Last Flat Floor 3.8 RHD FHC

I have 885517, a 62 LHD FHC that should have been just a few cars past the last flat floor. It has flat bulkhead with footwells. Likely built around 18 January 62.

Re: Front wheel bearing

Just removed the old bearing races from my 62 hubs using this trick. You need a welder though. Worked like a champ. You must remember to let the weld cool and shrink.

Re: Differential stumper

Mystery Solved... Begrudgingly removed the diff cover only to find nothing obvious and gears that looked ready for work. Out of options, and having examined every angle, nook and cranny I could with a flashlight, I removed the driver side half shaft. With it still in my hand, I grabbed the pinion an...

Re: Floor pans

Deal with SNG on the phone, not online. I have found them very responsive to searching for the correct part and I sometimes get a small discount. I have the MR floorpans via SNG and they are good quality. Monocoque Metalworks is a small shop with excellent parts. I have acquired many smaller and cus...

Re: Differential stumper

I literally drove this thing into my barn and took it apart. Now, that was almost two years ago, but I can't imagine what is locking it up. Looks like I will be undoing a lot of work. Not the first time! :banghead:

Re: Differential stumper

Same thing. Input turns smoothly as both wheels rotate same direction through that range. So input flange is rotating a little over two full turns

Differential stumper

Restoring my '62. Put the IRS back together and am stumped - maybe just ignorant. 43/13 PosiLok rear end. With the assembly supported by the bottom, when I rotate one wheel, both turn same direction - BUT only through about 240 degrees. Hard stop at both ends of that range. What am I missing? Is thi...

Re: Nice one. 29k Series one 3.8 for sale

My '62 FHC has original roadster seats and a flat bulkhead. I think they look better, but do not fit me well. Raking mine back just a bit during restoration.

Re: Alloy Bonnet?

Yes, actually I have visited Chuck at Monocoque Metal Works. He does nice work and has done some custom repair panels for me. I have considered having him repair my bonnet, as the rest of my metalwork is going to take some time and test my skills. Chuck is a great resource at a reasonable price.

Alloy Bonnet?

Deliberating restoring my original 62 bonnet or possibly springing for an alloy unit from SNGB. Anyone have experience with an aftermarket alloy bonnet?

Early FHC markings - instrument cluster

I enjoy stumbling upon factory markings... Noticed these today on the back side of my FHC cluster. 885517 flat bulkhead LHD http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv327/airbornespringer/SAM_3626_zpsp1hf7wpx.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv327/airbornespringer/SAM_3628_zpsndxrlnsh.jpg http://i69...

Well here is is for the next poor soul who ventures into the abyss of the bulkhead... Remove left and right spindles Release the knurled adjustment knob from the front http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv327/airbornespringer/SAM_3412_zpsmoopkz5b.jpg Drop the whole mess, including the center spindle...

Thanks for the reply... What I did not see through the muck was that the seal is housed in a separate piece. A firm twist after removing the mounting bolts does it. http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv327/airbornespringer/SAM_3402_zpsx0zag8wq.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv327/airbornespr...

Heater Valve

My understanding is that the heater valve (early '62) is a pinched fit onto the pipe into the bulkhead. To remove the valve, is this brought out as a unit or can the valve be separated from the pipe in some non-desructive way?
Thanks very much

Wiper rack removal

Is there a secret to removing the wiper rack assembly? I have the left and right spindles off. Does the center spindle need to be detached from the long mounting bracket? If so, how is this done?

Sheer insanity closing up the bulkhead permanently like that...
Thanks!
