Re: JLR have completely lost the plot!

My neighbour Sheila Blige said when she drives by the park her flasher is often not working.

"Crossmember" could be the most offensive word to these mentally ill types :seeingstars:

Original 10½" springs i have tested at 190lb per inch of compression, as said no reference is visibly available .The only reference i remember is Graham Hills car in Porters book being 150lb.

Re: S1 fhc Cant rail trimming

Also Brian IIRC , you asked before about fitting the rear quarter light rubber seals .
The cant rail is fitted before the rear quarter light and both the door and quarter light rubbers .

Re: First foray into porting

You don't mention valves Andrew ,so i guess you are maybe using standard as supplied ?. Having gone to the trouble of doing a port flow, buying better quality valves are worthwhile as part of the port flow process. Look up Race Engineering Components - G&S Valves - they stand alone when put alongsid...

I think this has been misunderstood, the good old chrome GB badge is ok That's not what the BBC article says. That's also not what the .gov.uk webite says. See https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/flags-symbols-and-identifiers You certainly have misunderstood. kind regards Marek Certainly no...

Re: 'GB' Letters

I think this has been misunderstood, the good old chrome GB badge is ok - it’s the blue band badge /sticker etc with the 12 stars around it that’s in question :seeingstars: —--so i agree we should remove the stars emblem - you could create a O sticker that covers them but leaves the GB showing . Oth...

Re: Flywheel Bolts and Crank Spigot

I've tried removing a spigot bush by grease and hammering a made to size pin ,would not budge -- so tapped and used a draw bolt. Even though the flywheel is potentially spinning at 5000 rpm five inches from your ankle :wow: a new lockplate + original bolts in good order are fine - the 10 flywheel bo...

Re: Clutch Kit Assembly

the old release bearing split into many pieces when I inspected it!! It's always satifying to know that there really was a clutch fault, and not an hydraulic fault!!! A bit more to help make a decision ! I would check the slave action/free play out carefully when rebuilding ,as a the thrust bearing...

Re: Spring clip/collar

It is easy to cut and form as it is Geoff, you could temper it further but i found it worked ok as it was . I suppose the banding is sort of only half way tempered to spring steel -

Re: Spring clip/collar

Christopher, If you have no joy in finding anything suitable you could get some blued tempered steel banding strip off a pallet of bricks or the like and make one . I recently made the handbrake spring steel plate that switches the micro switch from a banding strip and it works well. Edit -- use ele...

Re: "Long Skirt" Nylon insert nuts source

The correct frame nylocs are taller than type P, also a thicker than standard washer is used .
The only place i have managed to source these nylocs from is Uryk at E Type Fabs - he will have a full frame fitting kit if you need bolts and shims too.

Peter ,I don't think it is necessary unless there is obvious signs of chassis / bulkhead damage or inner and outer cill replacement . Set the tub up with a quality spirit level across the cills and front to rear, then check across the bulkhead - across the front frames and across the rear chassis leg...

Re: Bolting up Metalastic Bushes. Dry Shafts or what?

I lightly copperslip the shafts to help future disassembly and stop the rust seizing process , the bushes are clamped in position end to end on the metal tube insert and do not rely on the shaft diameter.
