Re: seat attachement 67 fhc (blocks to raise seat)??

Also fitting that high spacers would put a high leverage on (longer) bolts and risk them cracking upon load and fatigue.

Re: Overflowing Fuel

In addition to tapping the top of the float bowl, another tip is to turn the engine sometime to allow fresh gas flooding the bowls and wait before firing it. I have noticed that it helps. I think that after a (hot) run and non use of the car for more than a couple of weeks (in my case), heat soaking...

Mikael, I concur with Malcolm and Chris. You may have read my thread on the issue and the improvement in OP with the replacement of the original electrical sender by a mechanical gauge: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19209 With the mechanical gauge, my OP now reads about 20 psi at idl...

Re: Casting block

The big advantage of laser welding is that it can be more focused than TIG. Hence useful for very localised repairs. Its relative disadvantage is that it costs more to get the same power and that more power may be reflected/non absorbed by metal compared to TIG. So usually a tool used/owned by profe...

As I said above, in my case, on the bolt attaching the top right side frame to the picture frame :

Re: Routing of Front Wiring Harness Engine Bay - experiences of others ?

Rory, On my 61 (LHD), the eyelet of this fourth wire is earthed on the nearby bolt on the frame, where your stop light switch is bolted. On my car, that stop light switch is bolted on the left side of the car (on the mirroring bolt on the frame), not the right one as yours. To note (not sure it is r...

Re: Routing of Front Wiring Harness Engine Bay - experiences of others ?

Nothing useful to add on the harness, Rory.
But nice find, these hictoric newspapers of Le Mans 1957!
At that time, Le Mans was "the race", F1 was not that famous.

Re: Look what Santa brung.....

Yes, it is. Only the first page's four holes are slightly damaged (see picture). Otherwise complete and the folder is in perfect shape with no split or cut anywhere. It is the first version of the spare parts manual with the embossed cover as described by David here: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewto...

Re: Panel gaps at the factory

Thank you Steve. This is indeed the mantra of such restorations : BETTER THAN FACTORY I quote: "you should be able to look down the length of the car and not see a single break between each panel, however, this wasn’t always the case. Early production examples, at the time, were seen as a cheaper sp...

Panel gaps at the factory

Just seen this picture posted by Simon: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1408&start=2400#p165892 20231218-105926.jpg I use this opportunity to ask the question because all of the "quality restorations" aim at perfect gaps and alignments of panels as if that was the case when cars got o...

Re: 67 FHC quarter window seals

True that the SNG website is the place to go when looking for a piece. Useful however to have in hand the E-Type spare parts catalogue (as shown by Stuart here above). Some unusual "accessory" pieces (seals, washers, etc.) are not always shown or identified in the drawings of the SNG website and you...
