Re: Seriously, do they?

Working for me right now, but there is a sign saying that the site is undergoing maintenance at the moment - so maybe the site is down at night for this maintenance?

Re: Wipers

I had exactly the same problem. It was the switch. After cleaning and repeated on/offs, it started working again, and has ever since.

Re: Bonjour !

Hi and welcome to the forum! SNG Barratt used to sell a new handbrake lever, but it says "not available" now. Here is a link: https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/English/FindParts/Families/XKE%20~2F%20E-Type/3/13/1179/4375/1/10/1 It may be worth contacting them to ask if they plan to re-introduce the p...

Mike Hawthorn Grand prix de Farnham

A special day that some of you may like to go to on October 14th to celebrate Mike Hawthorn's life and success in racing. Below is the press release from a friend of mine in Area 1 of the Jaguar Driver's club. He is the main organiser: Press Release–Press Release–Press Release–Press Release The 60th...

Crazy seeing him hammering around with cyclists and other normal drivers everywhere!

By the way, I'll be doing a separate post, but there is a big Mike Hawthorn day coming up near me that some of you may be interested in.

Re: tyre pressure

Don't really understand why high speed motoring should demand higher pressures. At higher speeds, the tyres get hotter, so pressure increases. So why have them higher to start? Can anyone educate me?

Re: Gear Knob for 5 speed T5 box

I know Chris has his gearknob now, but out of interest I got a new gearknob made for me. A british guy working in the states makes gear knobs from your choice of wood, any thread, any motif. I sent him a picture of the E type steering wheel growler, and said "I want one like that". He found a tie pi...

Re: Engine wont go back to idle unless I blip the throttle

Sounds to me like the linkages are simply not returning to idle efficiently. the "Blip" simply gives the springs more momentum. Although the springs are new, perhaps check that all is clean so nothing is making it hard for the linkage to return properly. Have a look under the bonnet with the engine ...

Re: Any HENLYS experts?

Mine was originally white Christopher, and still is! So that could explain it. Don't know about the other car. Funnily enough, white was the last colour I wanted really, but the car was right so I got it. But now, I've got to love the colour and wouldn't want to change it. I suppose I just got used ...

Re: Any HENLYS experts?

Delays in registration seem common. Mine was manufactured in June 1969, and not registered until 1970!
My number is DAB26H. I parked at Goodwood a few cars away from DAB28H. His car was manufactured July 1969, went to the same Bristol dealer, and again wasn't registered until 1970.

Re: I got to wear a funny hat

Simon, my daughter (DOCTOR Rebecca Sykes)(typed proudly) did her Phd in native tropical forests in Mexico - not as romantic as it sounds, I can assure you. The one thing she found most important of all in terms of success/life balance/etc was getting a good mentor. She changed hers at one stage and ...

Re: Webasto sunroofs

I have a 2+2 with a Webasto, and love it. It's never leaked, and with the wind deflector up, I can drive at 80mph on a motorway with the roof open without too much noise. With the wind closed, I hear no extra noise until I hit about 100mph (at track days only of course!) when there is a tiny bit of ...

And welcome from me too! After all those years, the tyres will need changing anyway if they haven't been already. So do go for the 185s
Quite a few people have gone for the electric steering, and apparently it works well.
