Re: 1965 FHC chassi number? Build data?

Yes, I could of course have it repainted but again, I wanted a 4.2 car in drivers condition while I do the nuts and bolts resto my '62 FHC (slower story).

This is the car, what do you think?

1965 FHC chassi number? Build data?

Hello, Its a longshot but anyone have access to build data for 1E30933? I have the possibility to buy it and have seen the car, it is in good "driving condition" but it do need an amount of elbow grease and some funds as well to meet my standards. I used to have a '65 FHC and a 4.2 car would be a ni...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

Yes it is kind of a "prototype", the pump body is hard plastic/nylon just like the fuel lines. The pump is firmly stuck to the rubber mount and I did not want to drill the rear bulkhead/panel until I am 100% confident on the setup. I may move the pump as far to the left (from the rear) as possible b...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

Just documenting the Holley pump swap, it installed fine and the pump is quiet. An ideal solution would be a smaller pump but this unit will do. It seem to be made in hard nylon and if mounted to the rear bulkhead it should be able to take some beating from the spare if it had to. IMG_1253.jpeg IMG_...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

OK, the Holley pump is a great candidate. The size is fine, it is very well built and the spare wheel will clear below it. Have not tested noise but will replace the cheapo pump this coming weekend and see. "Mockup" in the '62 FHC IMG_0353.jpeg Very compact, should get smaller nipples to ease instal...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

The pump I installed may be good for years to come but I am looking to make the installation better, pump should be quiet, reliable and ideally 3-6 psi. I am using the Malpassi filterking with glassbowl to get the right pressure. Both SummitRacing and Jegs have lots of pumps, buy them where you want...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

The materials were definitely under par, no questions asked. I installed the pump March 2017. We have good quality gas in Norway, I have run mostly 95 octane in the past but switched to 98 this summer and will stick to that. I use STA-BIL fuel stabiliser in the tank when storing for winter, sometime...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

Thanks to Julian for getting back, the remote pump is great news.

Why not consider a recessed/sunk cover w room for a small Facet or similar on top please. The metal/stamping will be more expensive but what a relief and a breeze to swap pump. :fingerscrossed:

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

Pump strapped onto the hard rubber pad. IMG_0303.jpg Installed, no problems with spare or boot board. IMG_0305.jpg Still room for improvements. What if someone made a "sunk" cover? With a cover that is sunk there is room for a fuel pump on top of it. The metal piece itself will be a little more expe...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

Yes, all the rubber items were below par, even the shield they used on the cabling was falling apart. The electric line itself was ok though. No liner in the pressure hose, why not use nylon pipe or even "plumbing"? I decided to get my car back in duty and modified the SNG item to become a pickup pi...

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

4 years later with a non starting E-type. The pump from SNG has only done 200 miles but fuel hose, rubber pieces, some of the electric insulation has rotted away.

If you run one of these I would advice to check your pump.

Re: Dynamo upgrade: electronic regulator or Dynator?

Postitive earth seem to have been the better choice back in the day mostly due to the quality of wires and looms. Here is one of the many descriptions you would find from a google search. There are quite a few articles indicating that the ignition spark would be stronger as well. http://lajagclub.co...

Re: Dynamo upgrade: electronic regulator or Dynator?

For older cars there seem to be some advantages with positive earth and for originality I would have stuck to it. I think the small HT starter only come with neg earth configuration and that made the reason to swap. The Dynators are available with pos.earth and it is easy to swap back but I will kee...

Re: Dynamo upgrade: electronic regulator or Dynator?

I thought I'd post a followup, my initial plan to use the orig. dynamo would have needed a rebuild of dynamo and not only a digital regulator. The dynamo bearings were bad, suppose it has been cooked or had a bad rebuild back in 2005 (only put some 250 km on it in that period). The new plan was to g...

Re: Photobucket - Warning, do not use

Of course photobucket also need to generate income but the way they did this was a disaster. Anyone with tons of photos considering moving away from pbucket could: 1 - use the "download album" feature on photobucket 2 - find a photohost that will not mess with your (photobucket changed) filenames an...

Re: Photobucket - Warning, do not use

Same problem here, Photobucket really sucks on this one. The least they should have done is to make the changes apply on new uploads, changing the game 5 years down the roads is a joke. Photobucket is blackmailing the users, many of us would have posted pics in various forums for years. Most of my i...

Re: Dynamo upgrade: electronic regulator or Dynator?

Generator tested out fine with a newish repro regulator and decided to order a Clover digital regulator. Will get back with impression when it is installed. Thanks for feedback on the Dynator Angus, I will keep it as option for the future but then rather do a little more and change polarity and inst...

Dynamo upgrade: electronic regulator or Dynator?

What is considered the best "original look and style" dynamo upgrade? I may have cooked another Dynamo due to a faulty RB340 (have not checked it yet though) and want something better. Clover systems digital regulator with original Dynamo? http://cloversystems.com/products/other/dynamo-regulator/dr3...
