Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Yep, Guy Broad stick and a well known small Japanese rear wheel drive sports car knob which has the same gate pattern.

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

HI gtjoey, Answering your earlier question, yes I did "modify" the cross member but I also removed some of the redundant casting material on both sides at lower end the gearbox see attached. The actual clearance is greater once the rear bracket is attached (but then you can't see the Xmember to take...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Hi there, Quick reply as I'm heading off to Silverstone for the Classic weekend. Did you have the crank pulley on or removed as well - no can stay on as it did not interfere. Also we’re you able to get the prop shaft bolts from underneath or up top - put prop into tunnel and fully bolted up to the f...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

HI there, following your post and just thought to offer some hints having installed a Guy Broad box last winter into my Series 2 FHC. As you have to raise the engine and gearbox at an angle I found removing the oil breather and studs from the cylinder head it gave just enough room to clear the pictu...

Re: Power Steering rack Specialist

I had my S2 power steering rack overhauled by Kelly Bray in 2016 10000 miles and no sign of any leaks.

East European Trim Suppliers

Hi All, I keep seeing a number of adverts online and in the media for leather trim kits from east European suppliers both in Lithuania and Czechoslovakia does anyone have any experience of these suppliers, are they any good?

Re: oil pressure sender calibration widget

Hi Colin The gauge is a standard classic gauge only the "Smiths" is a little lower from the top of the gauge but the +ves outweighed the -ves, I will admit to swapping the bezel from the old Jaguar gauge, an example follows; https://www.minisport.com/pl2310-00b-smiths-oil-pressure-gauge-mechanical-b...

Re: oil pressure sender calibration widget

Hi Colin, I'm definitely in the !st category, smugly watching my oil pressure rise and fall in proportion to the engine speed and temperature but I've utilised an Aeroquip type pipe to connect to the gauge and used the redundant wire to drive a low engine oil press red light (LHD series 2) on the da...

Re: oil pressure sender calibration widget

Am I missing something here? I simply replaced the dodgy sender unit and electric gauge with a very similar mechanical gauge only difference is the gauge scale is 0 - 100 psi and shows 50psi at the 6 o'clock position.

Re: Many thanks to Angus

Hi Guys, I have an AP clutch cover in storage awaiting the arrival of a new 5 speed box which looks exactly the same as the pictures above, I have some numbers stenciled on the cover as follows; M49A40, 09L7E05000, in an AP box identified as CA4562 240mm, Please tell me this is not the same batch of...

Re: Mystery Door Card

Thanks Peter, comparing the OTS image above which shows a tapered capping, my image below is my S2 FHC and it has a rectangular capping. Just awaiting delivery of the correct door cards!

Re: Mystery Door Card

AHA, thanks Guys, so I have the door cards for an S2 OTS not a FHC. Having an E Type is a continuous learning journey, no matter how long you've had one you can still find differences between the models II was unaware of.

Mystery Door Card

Hi All https://i.postimg.cc/jqcx8VYh/door-card.jpg Just opened up the package with my new door cards above which were supposed to be for a series 2 FHC and laid the new one over the old one to discover that the new ones are about 1" short along the back edge. So these bargain doors cards obtained fr...

Re: Cam followers C7213/1 versus C44010.

Hi Steve, Thanks again, to answer your earlier question, the info I found was on Jag-Lovers dated Oct 2016 in the XK section and was not disputed and my measuring found exactly the same 0.007" difference in thickness. I compared the old followers taken from my S2 engine number 7R 8218-9 born in Oct ...

Re: Cam followers C7213/1 versus C44010.

Hi Steve, Thanks for your post, I just checked the SNG site and C7213/1 is listed as "long skirt" which it isn't, C7213 without the /1 is the long skirt follower. C44010 is also listed as "Long Skirt" which it also isn't, but it also states C44010 equivalent to C7213/1. https://i.postimg.cc/hv6zMmCZ...

Cam followers C7213/1 versus C44010.

Hi All, Currently rebuilding my S2 cylinder head due to a noisy exhaust tappet, so having removed the exhaust cam after noting down the clearances I measure the roundness and thickness of the existing followers which are found to be round within .001" (good) and the thickness 1.222/3". I ordered 6 n...

Re: Engine removal

Last time dropped the engine out of my S2 I used a wheel dolly to move it on to the engine stand, worked perfectly.
