Re: How to secure sill to sill closing panel?

Hi,
My understanding, is that early sills ( perhaps Series One) had closing panels spot welded to the sills, but Jaguar changed this later on to glued on, perhaps so that they didn’t have the extra expense of lead loading over the spot welds. (not sure of the date, perhaps for the Series Two).

Re: SNG throttle cable conversion

Thank you all for you advice, Steve, what did you use for the ball joint that attaches the cable to the ball on the accelerator pedal leaver? At first I thought it was one of the old control rods, but on closer inspection they are different. E600, does your accelerator leaver attach to both cables, ...

SNG throttle cable conversion

I was considering making my own throttle cable conversion as I cannot justify the expense of the SNG one, but just thought I would check the current cost of the real thing.

I noticed from the web site that it is marked “no longer available “
Does anyone know more about this?

Re: Electric Power Steering

Hi John, The base unit is a LHD column (motor on top pointing to the right) from ether a 2000-2004ish Vauxhall Agila or from a Suzuki Ignis, same years. It is important to get one together with motor and ECU as they tend to differ, even with the same model and also important to make sure it has an e...

Re: Electric Power Steering

Hi John, I know I am a bit late to the party, but just thought I would let you know that I have built my own electric power steering column; the cost was about £500, but would probably have been a lot cheaper if I hadn’t had as many dead ends during the design and build. It was not an easy build and...

Re: Front brake calipers fitment

Hi Danny,
I think you will find that the bolt spacing are bigger on the Series 2 and therefore won’t fit.

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

Hello Bruno, Are you the same Bruno that sells GPS controllers for EPS systems? If so, I would just like to say that I have bought one from you for my DIY EPS system that I am fitting to my E-Type. It works well on the EPS column, but I have not as yet been able to test the GPS. It has been a diffic...

Re: EZ STEERING GTJOEY ITS A NEW WORLD!

Can anyone who has fitted the EZ confirm if the steering wheel shaft has full travel and that the inner column top is no further forward than the original? Looking at the available photos, there does not seem enough room in the short inner column to house the full centre steering shaft, unless it pr...

Re: EZ STEERING GTJOEY ITS A NEW WORLD!

I’ve been following this on JL Joey and finding it very interesting.

I must be getting weak in my old age as I am finding the steering quite heavy, even with 185 tyres.

I am thinking about making my own system though, possibly MGF or Corsa B or C.
I can’t justify the expense of the EZ system.

Re: Servo not working

should the first piston spring go up to the plate or be held back in the bore as my spring is at the moment, to me it makes more sense for it to be forward onto the small plate to keep it upright as the main piston bears down on it? Interesting that this should come up now. I was having a similar p...

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

Thanks for the link Steve, very interesting and informative. There is one thing that is still puzzling me and that is the relationship between the centrifugal degrees and the vacuum degrees in the 123. Looking at the factory figures, you can have 21 degrees centrifugal plus maybe 18 degrees on vacuu...

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

Hi Christopher, Thank you for you help. Yes I am aware that the distributor figures are half crankshaft degrees. To be fair the Jaguar curve in the 123 is fine, it’s just at first try, the KB ones seem smoother. I have made up several maps, mostly using the figures from posts here, so I am still exp...

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

I just though I would update you on my progress. Well I have finally managed to get the car started with the 123.😀 I took the 123 out, but left it connected. I moved the drive gear through 360 degrees, but in no position was I able to get the LED to light up when the rotor lined up with a post on th...

Re: Headlining fixing order

I glued the foam to the roof first, my theory being that it would be very difficult to make sure the headlining was wrinkle free if it was glued to the foam first.

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

Hi Richard, Yes it was from TDC on the compression stroke. I am fairly sure that this particular problem is confined to the distributor. Even if you remove the distributor and turn the shaft to any position that lights up the LED, the rotor is between the posts on the distributor cap and not lined u...
