Re: What's my Coupe worth?

It's been a while but just to let you know I sold it for £35k which I was happy with and the buyer is happy too. His plan is to get a repaint and whilst the engine is out to sort out the gearbox. I do miss not having it although I don't miss the agro it caused me which silly issues. Now looking for ...

Re: opus ignition system

I've got the Reopus ingition on mine with the standard dizzy. Works very well and not had any problems. Easy to fit too if you can use a soldering iron.

Re: What's my Coupe worth?

Same miles and exterior colour as mine so I was interested to see what this went for. Auction commission fees make quite a difference, another £5k on a £34k hammer price. The car looks tidy but hard to tell from the pictures and auction sites tend to gloss over the bad points. This ones an auto on s...

Re: What's my Coupe worth?

Hi all, thank you for your comments. I agree with the comments on Hagerty prices, I just don't think they reflect the real world. According to them my Reliant Scimitar is worth £10k, I'd happily sell it for that. As for my car just to clarify; I have a perfect original bonnet in primer that...

Re: Reaction to the E type is Almost Overwhelming Sometimes

When the fuel pump failed on my car I pulled onto the verge at side of the road and had the bonnet up whilst waiting for the recovery truck. Two different guys stopped to say they knew about older cars and asked if I needed help. I thanked them but explained I was in good hands and after a bit of a ...

Re: What's my Coupe worth?

Prices for usable cars are all north of £30k with UK cars starting from £45k. The cheapest at the moment is a LHD car with a chevy motor for just under £30k but why on earth would someone want that. As mentioned you don't know what the cars actually sell for but it's probably within 10 percent if it...

Re: What's my Coupe worth?

Thanks chrisfell but I find Hagerty prices to be way off what is going on in the real world... I'm not sure you can easily classify a classic as being fair or good or excellent.... a pile of scrap or concours maybe but anywhere between is hard to judge as you have to take into account originality an...

What's my Coupe worth?

Hi All, I thinking of selling my car but not sure what it is worth in the current market I have a 72 UK supplied coupe. It is very original, black with red leather, manual box with wires. I have a heritage certificate showing it is matching numbers. I also have full ownership history and it is on it...

Plug for the S3 in Classic Car - Buy one now!!

Classic Car mag this month is saying to snap up an S3 now before the prices reach the stratosphere....

I sort of see their logic, the S3 is attracting it's own following of younger buyers wanting to get into an Etype and them seeing S3 being a 'better' version of the original.

Hi all,

Can I ask why you were getting your pumps rebuilt?

Since I had the cooling issue with mine I'm wondering if the impeller corrodes and the pump loses pumping efficiency?

Fantastic to have feedback from someone that owns both, thank you.

I would love a 3.8 series 1 but the purchase cost is way over my lowly income.

The relatively lower value for the S3 means I'm not paranoid about where I park it or it getting scrapes and knocks. I just use and abuse it !

I've just read the article and it is indeed interesting, typical story of cost cutting which defined engine development.

Engine deficiencies aside the series 3 is still great to drive and worthy of merit and if you have a 2+2 there is loads of space for luggage....

You can see the bias on this very forum too with the Series 1 group having 11,000 posts and Series 3 with less than 3,000. Surprisingly the Series 2 only has around 3000 posts but then the Series 2 is also a model that is talked down compared to a Series 1. At the end of the day the V12 is a differe...

OK all sorted I think. Yes the car did have two thermostats and they are both working. I added a couple of bottles of rad flush and drove the car for 15 minutes. The temperature crept up as before. I then let it cool off and flushed the system through, back flushing through the rad resulted in quite...

OK, thanks all, could be me being dumb then. I will go and check the other side of the engine. In my defence the SNG parts diagrams don't say "2-off" just "(2)" after the part no so my bad for not clocking it. I actually changed the off side one when I was recommissioning the car not suspecting ther...
