Re: Thoughts on buying an E-Type
I think if you are expecting advice what to do with the money you are probably in the wrong spot here.. Once you are sure you want an e-type, get back :-). However, I can tell you that nowadays the cost of restoring will be roughly the same for 2+2 and FHC. These costs are not getting cheaper as wel...

Hi, Many thanks - you mean this one - no 11 on the drawing? https://i.postimg.cc/Px5rvmfC/Zrzut-ekranu-2024-05-07-214455.png https://i.postimg.cc/ZqVJmCP4/Zrzut-ekranu-2024-05-07-214722.png Tadek Hi Tadec, the only one I can think of is on the throttle linkage pivot pin, it stops the link rattling.

Thackery Washer #10 - location?
I am finishing up my s1 FHC and found a Thackery Washer #10 that came with the car - it was probably loose.
1/4" Thackery Washer is used on the battery clamps, however is there any place where this smaller #10 goes?
I have no idea on it's PN.

Re: 3.8 / 4.2 Rear License plate & grommet
Well,
My car (889348) is a FHC and the hole there is 3/4", not 5/16" - but I guess it's not that big of a difference :-)

Re: 3.8 / 4.2 Rear License plate & grommet
Thanks David, https://i.postimg.cc/xTSGmVtY/svlqgCo.jpg I am taking about the hole circled red, rear of the car of course. This may not be present on early cars though. BTW, for the front bonnet oblong hole, plug BD20989 & grommet C4548 were too short for me. The C4548 was good though for the handbr...

Re: 3.8 / 4.2 Rear License plate & grommet
I guess you will not find access to the lock on the FHC ;-) But, you must be right, Jaguar made just one panel for the FHC & OTS, I guess. I think you’ll find its to gain access to the boot lock mechanism for when the cable snaps ……. The central rubber plug is C5648 3/4". It's not listed (for that p...

3.8 / 4.2 Rear License plate & grommet
Does anyone know how the rear number plate C18921 looked like? It's listed as standard equipment for 3.8, later as an optional extra for 4.2 There is a puzzling hole in the middle of the rear license plate place: https://i.postimg.cc/0jsWVtkz/rear.jpg What is the purpose of this hole?? I think it's ...

So, we are talking about about an expense of about 250 GBP. What happens if one or more snap later on? What is the possible cost of repair?

Welcome to the forum!
I was actually wondering if you have an idea how many e-types are there in Singapore? :-)
With the tax/permit for the parking space, it must be quite a challenge to have one there..

Re: Clutch pipe/hose/bracket routing LHD
Not the best photo, but should give you an idea: - top L shaped bracket is mounted on the inner, lower frame setscrew - the small bracket is mounted on one of the screws mounting the block to the gearbox bracket BTW, they are both the same colour as the radiator brackets (blueish). https://i.postimg...

If you need the cross pattern, I think James Lawrance does them.

Re: Series 1 early 3.8 radio console
Actually, it's an interesting question. I think that the early ash tray inserts were fixed with self tapping screws, while the later ones were UFS419/4H. The head though I think should be the same (Slotted Panhead). Also, all the original ones I have seen on photos looked chromed. https://i.postimg....

Re: Glas tint S1 FHC
I can't help you on the colour, check the SPC, however I can tell you that if you order glass from Pilkington you can order it without logo and then sandblast the logo using a stencil.
I used to make the stencils, however I no longer have the access to the laser printer :-(.

Careful which pipe you buy, as some stretch when filled with fuel.
They stretch to a degree, and then stop stretching...
