Re: SNG Barratt

Julian, welcome to the forum and thank you for your willingness to put your head above the parapet. Unfortunately most of us, me included, are too willing to remember the bad experiences and not all the good ones. The good ones are much greater than the bad ones and I'm very grateful for the help I ...

Re: Lead Shot bag in OTS roof & Trimmers

David, you say the lead shot was in S1 OTS, do you know why it wasn't used for the S2 or S3?

Thank, Geoff

Re: Overwintering ...synthetic petrol

what is the current legislation regarding the use of fuel containing ethanol in light aircraft? I seem to remember it was illegal, is that still the case? Simon With the caveat that I've hung up my headset, ethanol and aircraft fuel systems and engines don't go well together. Attacking rubber compo...

Re: Overwintering ...synthetic petrol

Get out more, Simon
Let's throw a cat among the pigeons and suggest you use aviation fuel, 100LL, which has the advantage of not losing its octane rating over the winter and is a far more stable fuel than car petrol.

David, are all these recent additions coming from Steve's car you mention above?
Is there a story to be told of such a low mileage car in such good condition?

Re: Thinking of buying an E-Type

David, why not chat to Angus Moss: https://www.mossjaguar.com/index.html He has imported and restored quite a few E Types and will give you an honest appraisal of what is involved, also, if you give him all the information you have from the seller he could assess it, as best as can be done without i...

Re: Heater comparison S3 Vs S1/2

Richard, thanks, I bought one of those from Clayton Classics at Beaulieu. It should help. As I have an S3 heater, which with a bit of adjustment could fit an S2, then it seemed worth finding out from those who know whether it could work as an upgrade, with one of the curved deflectors and perhaps a ...

Heater comparison S3 Vs S1/2

There are various upgrades for the heaters on the S1 and S2, using Fiero parts, options from suppliers for new motors, fans and heater matrixes. But how does the S3 heater compare? The fan shroud is deeper and the fan looks deeper, though the same diameter. Is the heater matrix more substantial? Any...

The "lifesaver check" is still valid on modern cars as much as on an E Type with mirrors.

Re: Door mirrors

Tricky, from what I've read door mirrors were optional extras often fitted by the dealers. I fitted mirrors to both doors on my S2 and feel much happier in traffic giving you better situational awareness, especially for seeing the idiots barrelling up behind you, whether trying to overtake or at spe...

Welcome to the forum. This is the workshop manual you'll need: https://www.amazon.co.uk/JAGUAR-MODELS-LITRE-SERVICE-MANUAL/dp/1855200201 And if you look in the technical section you'll be able to download pages to print for ready reference. Print pages and put them into plastic sleeves for use in th...

Re: 50 Year Celebration of the Series 2 !

Mark10337 is here on the 7th October. I'll be at a Jaguar Drivers Club Area1 meeting at Bewlee that day, that'll be for all sorts of Jaguars. Another day at Brooklands or Bicester would be good. Would meeting at Bicester give us anything to see? Unless we can persuade one or two of the companies to ...

Re: 6162 RW anyone know of this car?

Carlos, do you have anything to do with this car? As you can see I was trying to pass information to my neighbour (see above) who can be seen in the photo with the car back in 1961. JD Classics never did respond to my enquiry, even to see photos they had previously exhibited on their website. Sadly,...

Re: Front Screen Side Trim Fixing

John, be aware that some (not necessarily this piece) can be a poor fit. What people will often do is have the old part re-chromed.
BTW did you ask SNGB for a copy of their parts catalogue, a very useful reference?
