Re: 1970 FHC Restoration

I don't think back in those days they used model year numbers. Regard the E Type by Series: 1; 1.5; 2; 3
Changes were made all the time, rather than doing facelifts each year.
My S2 FHC was manufactured in August 1969 but not registered until January 1970.

Re: EDIS/Megajolt Ignition Support Thread

John, thank you for that comprehensive explanation of the work involved. It shows why the Webcon EDIS is more expensive as that does seem to be a direct bolt on replacement. I'm going to have to think through which would be the best option, save money on the TW but then spend time and money on getti...

Re: EDIS/Megajolt Ignition Support Thread

John, thank you for the advice and invitation. You may not wish to let me borrow your lathe as it's a long time since skool days when I last used one! I have, though, a local workshop who have helped make up a few bits and pieces for me. Welding, machining, etc. One other question if you don't mind ...

Re: EDIS/Megajolt Ignition Support Thread

The TW seemed to be a good solution till Kingzetts pointed out the need for a lathe. Grrr!
John (Kingzetts) is their universal sensor bracket at least a good initial guide and would a piece of aluminium angle extrusion (or the like) work for making my own with simple workshop equipment?

Thanks

Re: EDIS/Megajolt Ignition Support Thread

I've been asking Trigger Wheels some questions about their trigger wheel, mounting brackets and connectors and got this: With the trigger wheel you simply mount it at the correct orientation and then secure it in place. Once installed there is no need to move it. You don't even need to worry about h...

Re: EDIS/Megajolt Ignition Support Thread

Engine out for overhaul and to chase those missing 50 bhp. You have 215 BHP then? Rory, I kind of like that you've asked these questions as I've been contemplating the same and didn't like to be rude to Ray. But at £360, the Trigger Wheels one looks very tempting. I'll follow your progress...

Re: Open Day at e-Conic Cars (Moss Jaguar)

Hi Angus, I've put my name down for the JDC E Type seminar on the 8th April so might get myself in the really bad books to be AWOL on the 7th too. I could probably escape on one day over Easter, so the 31st could work for me. But let's see what the consensus is from the others who showed interest. A...

Re: Open Day at e-Conic Cars (Moss Jaguar)

HI Angus, have you thought any more about an open day?

Being selfish I can't make either of the first three Saturdays in March and the last one is the Easter weekend.
Jaguar spares day at Stoneleigh on Sunday the 18th March.

24th suit anyone else?

Regards

Re: XJ6 camshaft compatible with E Type?

Christopher and Carsten have given you the information you need. I didn't make it clear in my first post that the XJ6 cam was originally fitted to my standard E Type head before I changed to the XJ6 head. Some people even have larger valves in their standard head if new guides are being fitted. Bene...

Re: XJ6 camshaft compatible with E Type?

Steve, I have the head and cams from a S3 XJ6 4.2 engine on mine. The cams have a slightly higher/larger lift, need the 12-14 thou tappet clearance and there is a larger inlet valve on the head. But your E Type head will be the smaller, standard size valves IIRC. Get the right bits and pieces to fit...

Gerry, a nice idea. A get together at Bicester or maybe Brooklands would be fun.
There are enough of us who appreciate the S2.

Though be prepared for a continuation of the S2 aesthetics theme
