Re: door latch question/ years ??

Have you tried looking on the SNG Barratt website for them both? The photos show slight differences, though I have no personal experience of the S1 item to compare.

Spotted this should anyone be in London or care to have their pride and joy on show. On Wednesday 5th June, the London Concours, in partnership with Jaguar, pays homage to one of the greatest and most enduring icons of automotive design: the Jaguar E-type. Present in all its evolutions and variants,...

Henda, do you have a name? Do you have the proper manual? JAGUAR E TYPE MODELS 3.8 & 4.2 LITRE SERIES 1 & 2 SERVICE MANUAL The long river company has them. Much more comprehensive than the Haynes manual and you can see it shown in the knowledge section to print off a page or two for ready reference ...

Jerry, not all are push fit and you’ll see a screw hole in that fleabay item to help hold it in place. Worth adding that. And yes, as Mich says in your other topic, upgrade to relay.

Re: Replace Faulty Ignition switch?

Jerry, you don’t need to take the ignition key/steering column lock off. There is an electrical ignition switch at the back that can be removed and replaced. That way no concern with the sheer bolt. Look for the rubber boot on the electric gubbins at the back, slide boot out of way then look at the ...

Re: New member from York looking for servicing and restoration contacts

Amazon has the manual David has referred to: JAGUAR E TYPE MODELS 3.8 & 4.2 LITRE SERIES 1 & 2 SERVICE MANUAL It is essential reading and reference and as pointed out in red in David’s link “you must own it” not just rely on the technical knowledge section. You can take the door lock off the car and...

Re: Interior Trim - I HATE CONTACT ADHESIVE, but ........... this helps

First came across MEK when I worked at Evode the makers of Evo-Stik. It was the product of choice to clean off not only Evo-Stik but all the general cleaning around the manufacture of adhesives, tapes, etc.
That was quite a few years ago but can still remember the smell

Re: Door Adjustment - In and Out

Dom, have you taken off the strike plate completely and checked how the door looks and to ensure there’s nothing stopping the door fully closing? What can be counter-intuitive is that sometimes you need to move the strike plate outwards. All to do with getting the lobed cam (star wheel as below, cou...

Re: New To Doors, does this look right please ?

Philippe, you don’t really see that section once the inner panels are fitted to the door, even when the door is open as the panel extends beyond the face and hides it when closed.

Strange high engine idle speed

After a bit of a clean around the engine idle speed increased to 1200 rpm from the usual 700 (4.2 engine). Throttle and choke seemed to be working correctly, but then found the centre choke cam which lifts to open the butterfly to increase tickover was sitting off centre. So it was being slightly li...

Re: Sequence: interior, doors, glass, chrome etc

Don’t finalise the rear side windows until you’ve checked the door fit as the angle of the rear quarter light and door windows need to match which might even need repositioning of both to get them fitting nicely all the way up.
