Re: Interior Trim - I HATE CONTACT ADHESIVE, but ........... this helps
First came across MEK when I worked at Evode the makers of Evo-Stik. It was the product of choice to clean off not only Evo-Stik but all the general cleaning around the manufacture of adhesives, tapes, etc.
That was quite a few years ago but can still remember the smell

Re: New member from York looking for servicing and restoration contacts
Jonny, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. One of the best respected restorers is having an open day in Letchworth, not round the corner but well worth getting down to see him and meet others from the forum: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20497 You could also chat with e...

Re: Door Adjustment - In and Out
Dom, have you taken off the strike plate completely and checked how the door looks and to ensure there’s nothing stopping the door fully closing? What can be counter-intuitive is that sometimes you need to move the strike plate outwards. All to do with getting the lobed cam (star wheel as below, cou...

Welcome to the best place for all things E Type, please add your name to your signature area, much nicer to reply to a person not a user name. If you want to meet and learn more about running and maintaining an E Type, why not get yourself along to the open day at Moss Jaguar Letchworth: https://for...

Re: New To Doors, does this look right please ?
Philippe, you don’t really see that section once the inner panels are fitted to the door, even when the door is open as the panel extends beyond the face and hides it when closed.

Strange high engine idle speed
After a bit of a clean around the engine idle speed increased to 1200 rpm from the usual 700 (4.2 engine). Throttle and choke seemed to be working correctly, but then found the centre choke cam which lifts to open the butterfly to increase tickover was sitting off centre. So it was being slightly li...

Re: Sequence: interior, doors, glass, chrome etc
Don’t finalise the rear side windows until you’ve checked the door fit as the angle of the rear quarter light and door windows need to match which might even need repositioning of both to get them fitting nicely all the way up.

Re: New Member
Hello Henda, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. As for fuel, use Esso Premium unleaded, their 99 octane. Or Shell’s version. No need for lead additive. There is concern in some quarters for the ethanol in modern fuels not being kind to fuel lines and diaphragms. But arguments both way ...

Phil, have you rotated the engine, assuming it’s safe to do so? Maybe that would help them settle a bit?

James There are various auction sites that could sell the car for you. How about telling us a bit more, for example: is the car roadworthy? Or has it been off the road these past twelve years? With new tyres needed and a general inspection for rust, condition of the engine, vehicle interior, etc. Ma...

Jerry, as Steve says, my comment was about the topic author. No offence meant to you and apologies if that is how you read it. It was a general comment how yet another person new to the forum comes in with a question, gets helpful advice but never seems to read that advice or say thanks. Edited: Jer...

Re: Lazy Starting
This is a classic case where a new poster asks a question and doesn’t seem to have bothered reading or at least never bothered to say thanks to the various people who have posted responses at least it may have helped others along the way.

You could try companies like Aldridge, BAS, and other trim companies mentioned on here. Several refurbish hoods and they might be able to help source the wood.

Steve, fyi that’s the same as the coolcat version. Think as it as a generic copy.
