Re: Christopher Storey
I can only echo what others have already posted. I regret that I have not had the opportunity to have met him and the other wonderful members on this forum. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, both personally and vicariously.

Re: Casting block
I had never heard of laser welding until I read this thread. I looked it up and was interested in finding out which laser and what settings (wattage, pulsed vs. continuous wave, etc.) are used for welding. Interestingly, the Nd:YAG laser is the generating source. As I'm sure all on this forum know w...

Those lights are highly therapeutic, at least for me. I don't know what that says about the hooligan in me, but i sure do get a kick out of smashing them!

Re: Dial test indicator
I bought this one to adjust my woodworking tools. It's probably not accurate enough for high precision demands, but for adjusting a table saw, jointer, etc. it's more than adequate. Certainly accurate enough to find TDC on an auto engine. https://www.amazon.com/Indicator-Magnetic-Holder-Adjustable-T...

Does anyone on the Forum know the cause of the fire? Did it start when workers were present?

One other related tip: As I fold my hood, I place a rolled up bath towel on the plastic rear screen to cause the screen to curve somewhat gently without forming a crease.

Coronation Day
Like a lot of us on this side of the Pond, I got up early to watch the Coronation of King Charles III. Whether one is pro- or anti-monarchy (I side with the pro's for England but not for America), with all the pomp and circumstance, you Brits sure do now how to put on a spectacle! Well done and cong...

Re: How do I drain the old gasoline from the gas tank?
"3. If you pull the fuel pickup/pump in top of tank almost all fuel can be accessed and pumped out."
Or, just disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump, attach a piece of gas line hose to the outflow side of the pump and use the pump to empty the tank.

"A lot or aerospace engineers out there, it seems..." I've noticed that, too, both here and on J-L. Lots of members with careers in aviation as pilots, engineers, and mechanics. Makes me wonder what draws aviation enthusiasts to E Types. Maybe Malcolm Sayer's engineering influence on the E Type desi...

Re: Change the clutch without dropping the engine
Unfortunately, you cannot change the clutch without dropping the engine/gear box. I'll defer to others that are more knowledgeable, but it doesn't sound like the clutch needs to be changed. A worn clutch normally results in slippage when the clutch pedal is let out (i.e. power is not being fully tra...

Another invaluable source of information is Crespin's book:

"I know this is not the ideal trip one wants to take with an e type but would prefer it to break down closer to home rather than miles away." Understood, but in your case wouldn't a flat bed to bring your car home be better than breaking down in the London traffic that you described? I would imagine...
Re: PhDone
Congratulations, Dr. Johnson! I've always considered the PhD the highest honor in academic achievement. Virtually all of the other advanced degrees (IMHO) only require the determination to complete the requirements once one is enrolled in the program. The PhD on the other hand, requires considerable...

Re: Hoovie Buys an S1 Roadster
Naugahyde was developed to replace the North American native species Naugas after they were commercially hunted to extinction in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There remains but a few of the original hides from the Naugas, most of them in museum collections. Obviously those original hides a...

Not E-Type related or really much Jaguar content, but I saw this on YouTube and thought that it would be of interest in light of current events in GB:
