Re: Stop lamps and sidelight circuits.

Just to close this off, I fitted a diode blocking lead between each red cable live supply and rear tail lamp red wire and the problem is fixed - no more front sidelights coming on with the stop lights. Thanks to Gil at bettercarlighting for pointing me in the right direction and supplying the leads....

Re: Hi from NZ's latest latest member

Hi,
I converted mine to RHD, including the change to the wiper motor to get it to park correctly. The info on the forum is invaluable. There are also some suppliers that will provide the complete kit of parts. It’s pretty straightforward - go for it!

Re: Sovy Failure

Great work Julian. I’ll send mine back as per your PM, this is where it split, which ties in with the hose fitting/positioning root cause. The split started at the base of the spigot .... https://i.postimg.cc/Tw7Ps2K0/35989384-82-C9-414-D-84-B9-24-E842637058.jpg And continued across the base. https:...

Re: ‘68 2+2 Re-trim

Super job. :salute: :yellow: I've just finished a total re-trim on mine so I know exactly how you feel. When you say you have removed the spacers, do you mean the 2 on each side at the front, and the single ones on each side at the back? If so, you want to check the clearance at the front over the c...

Re: Stop lamps and sidelight circuits.

Thanks all, I think I’ve found what the problem might be. I checked that all the connections were correct, which they appeared to be. I then replaced the led’s in the stop lamps with the original dual element bulbs. Problem went away! So having spoken to the led supplier, he advised that there is a ...

Stop lamps and sidelight circuits.

Hi All, Having videoed the start-up and reversing out of the garage, a few feet up the drive, and back into the garage again (to send to my Dad by way of progress update) I’ve now noticed something odd/annoying/potentially time consuming to fix. It appears that when I apply the brakes, the front sid...

Re: Rear boot lid aperture seal

Hi,

If Chris C can't find his trim, I got mine from Hutsons as part of a complete interior seals kit for the 3.8 fhc.

Re: Rear boot lid aperture seal

Hi Malc, I did this for the first time last year and found it not that tricky to fit. I found that it was best to heat up the trim to make it as pliable as possible and trial fit using tape along the straight edges. The curves at each of the four corners is where you need to take some time. Some cut...

Re: Trouble shooting 123 dizzy

Hi All, Having considered all the hints & tips, and having had a chat with Steve, I had another crack at it this morning. I charged the battery overnight, cleaned and checked all the plug gaps and found the timing mark on the damper and marked it with white paint pen. To ensure I was timing on the c...

Hi,
I’ve been using a 34mm to turn mine over - not perfect fit but does the job.

Re: Sovy Failure

As per one of the earlier replies, I had one of my new brake reservoirs split on the base at the spigot. It had been fitted for 6 months, but the car has not been used in that time, so rule vibration out in this instance. I suspect it was due to not having the hose perfectly vertical, causing strain...

Re: Trouble shooting 123 dizzy

Andrew, Simon, Steve

Thanks for the responses. For clarity, as there appears to be differing opinions, does the plug fire only on the compression stroke? If so, then that will be the first thing I’ll look at.

Re: Trouble shooting 123 dizzy

It’s been a while since the original post, and things have moved on a bit. I’ve had the 123 6-r-v pos repaired (not cheap). I’ve fitted the engine earth strap. I’ve manually set the timing to tdc on no.6 cylinder. I had to do this using a steel rod down the spark plug bore and hand turning the engin...
