Re: 1961 Original Horn Push question

Okay, thank's guys. So its a spring on the long rod - and no spring in between the horn push button and its housing.

1961 Original Horn Push question

Hi, I am wondering if I am missing a Horn Push Spring here. Or, do the very early 1961 series 1 horn push just rely on the Spring (16880) as item 14 in the parts manual to hold the horn push off of activating? https://i.postimg.cc/R0F6KtBz/513-F17-C3-2-B97-469-C-A2-E8-6-B667-BFA10-C3.jpg https://i.p...

Re: louvered bonnet

I don't get the response correctly either.
Welded louvre bonnets continued after 875385.
I think the confusion is referring to when outside bonnet latches finished at 875385.

Re: Extra “tappety’ noise to engine after re-build

IF the cams have been turned without the cam sprockets fitted with the chains on then possibly a bent valve.
It's quite an easy mistake for the unknown as the cams must be set and not rotated without being timed.

Re: Cam oil bango stripped

Im sure I got my extra longer banjo bolts from SNG. They solve the problem of the standard short ones stripping the threads. Found this link here to the USA...https://xks.com/i-6919299-jaguar-oil-banjo-longer-repair-type-c5846-1.html Anyhow, just looked back through our purchase receipts in 2014 and...

Re: Spark Plugs

Simon, if you have any doubt and think they are fake - then you could be correct. I bought some NGK plugs for my other car (aston martin V8) from Ebay. I ran the car last June after fitting them on a very long European road tour. Firstly we thought it was the E5 / E10 fuel abroad for the coughing an...

Some enhanced photos of the cylinder head (click to expand): 2016: You can see another number under the new one - specifically between the 6 and 9. Also notice the dash is just a straight line whereas the Factory always used the number 1 on its side for that. Also the roughness of the casting has b...

You think it's been re-bodied in the past Clive - I see the points you indicate . More than one of those about by now I would have thought . You can't really get away from it can you. Reminds me of a certain red roadster which is in that photo from Browns lane. I was looking at the XKE data stats t...

Re: chassis 62

This car is not original. Its been recently altered to make it look like an early car with alterations to the Boot hinges. Previously it wore later style hinges when it was a Red car. and the boot drain outlet is as per later cars being on the side. And now the car has been recreated to appear to be...

I have seen this before and now trying to remember.
I am sure it was a modification for the brake pedal return. ?? Possibly a service mod.

Re:Best Car Cover

The best car cover is none at all unless you have a heated and dehumidified garage . All fabric covers, however breathable the material, harbour moisture , and this is one of the commonest causes of microblistering. If you want to cover it, I suppose that one of the ventilated carcoon type devices ...
