Good luck with a cheap brake tool working on kunifer pipe
It is not as easy as working with copper
Automec supply a kit for etypes with all pipes made up for less than the cost of a decent brake flaring tool.
I really don't know why you would bother making your own?

I have just completed a manual to 5 speed conversion using a getrag 265 from an xj with a conversion spacer ring
If I was to do the same conversion again I would be tempted to fit an e type four speed manual together with a 2.88 diff instead of a 5 speed.
Straight swap and less hassle

Hi Current ratio is 3.31 as I left the original diff in place. I managed to acquire an e type 4 speed box after buying the getrag and also a 2.88 diff but figured that by mating the 5 speed with the 3.31 this would leave the 4 speed and 2.88 for another project. Doesn't the soapy water/window cleaner affect the adhesion of the plate? You can't put a plaster on a wet finger and get it to stick?
