Time locked highly original 1963 XKE found

A fairly rare 1963 Series 1 XKE , one owner, 17,000 miles from new and then stored for over 50 years un-touched by it's hoarder owner  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb3BQhDFWOI&t=1s Jay Leno's team are preserving it :scratchheadyellow: First 12 mins are on the XKE and how they are dealing w...

Re: Roof mounted radio aerial

Mine had the aerial in the rear OS wing which was totally stupid as every time you walked past you could hit it by accident as it stuck out so far when extended. As I needed a new OEM windscreen from Pilkington I got one built into the glass when I replaced it, so... much better and cant be s...

Early 3.8 62 flatfloor no 162/631 eType project for sale

Looks like a interesting project to restore to original condition if it can be bought for the right money - no reserve at auction. Feb 62, 2 owner, 71000 miles (not verified) UK Henlys car, matching numbers ? lots of bits wrong but .................... No connection either ! https://themarket.co.uk/...

I removed mine on my XKE S2 FHC when it was returned to full UK spec, just get them welded up for the best result.

Re: Immobiliser / tracker

I researched this about 2 years ago when I needed my one and went for the Back2You solution as I wanted a subscription free, long life battery covert fit working of a mobile app.It can also live track and also geo-fence. This does the job very well and and has worked very well and I have no connecti...

Re: Triple carburetors

Steve, I have the same year car as you, XKE 1970 Series 2 FHC and went through your conundrum 4 years ago. Really your best options are: 3 x SU's or 3 x Weber's or 2 x Stromberg's. As I was returning my XKE to right hand drive full UK spec the best option for me (not the cheapest) was 3 x SU's (boug...

Re: Adjusting drivers door shut line

James, Looking at it from above the door is sitting 1-2 mm in from the bulkhead line so it needs to come out a little so this would resolve it I think, so out of the four pillar bolts holding the hinge which one would you not undo so that I can adjust it and it does'nt drop ? Clearly this door has n...

Re: Adjusting drivers door shut line

Hi Angus,
No it's me that's was'nt thinking straight first thing in the morning
You are quite right, I will probably need to adjust the door correctly, thanks for the tip on the paper for gapping as I was wondering how to get it right without guesswork.

Re: Adjusting drivers door shut line

Thanks guys. I will try the lubricating the hinge first to see if it will make any difference and solve the problem :fingerscrossed: Failing that then I will need to adjust it, what worries me is that the door does not have a lot of space on the back or front edge gaps to move the alignment, so just...

Adjusting drivers door shut line

Just noticed that my drivers door is now just touching when first opening the back edge of the bonnet / wing, how do I adjust this out to stop it damaging the paint further. Do I need some shims under the hinge plate to push it slightly further back or is there a better way of resolving this ? https...

Re: WELDING AND CHICKEN WIRE ON BONNET ?

There should also be a type of sound deadening material sitting on top of the wire mesh frame between it and the bonnet which you need to be sure to keep if it is still there as it is no longer available as a part number.
If it is missing I have found an alternative which works just as well.
