Hi Michel,
are you a member of the ECJA/Alsace Jaguar club?
I'm quite often around Germany/Basel and also have an E Type.
Maybe we'll meet at one of the ECJA's meetings?
best regards
Marc

Re: S1 4.2 Rear Exhaust without expansion box
Hi everybody,
i find the stainless steel wide bore exhaust line I have on the car too noisy: where should I best (quality/price) order one in mild steel for a 1963 FHC? I'd like to get the long resonators. I already have the original manifolds.
thank you for your advice, best regards

Re: Door frame fixings
Hi Rory, after having said that I always enjoy your very interesting posts, I'd like to get from you an short explanation about the screws used by BAS for holding the upper chrome rails (joncs chromés in French) on the door trim cards. With 16mm under head as you said, do they go through the metal i...

Re: window mechanism
problem was twice within the winding part, not the apparent length with teeth.
Bob, I would be interested in your mechanism for FHC if they are really for FHC.
What is the difference between eerie 1 and eerie 2 for this item?
best regards.

window mechanism
Hi everybody, do you know of any alternative to the poor quality refab from the usual providers for the window mechanism? I already got two, first broke instantly, second was completely blocked, third never arrived, probably temporary unavailable or too many concerns, so the provider is on "wait and...

Re: oil dipstick
Yes, if it was only my car, I would be sure either the sump or the dipstick is wrong, but I am speaking about around ten cars, that's why i don't understand. And between 8.5 and 11 to 12 l. there is a big difference!
So...???

Thanks everybody,
I just forgot to say the sump is correct for the 3.8 engine, it has not been changed for a different type.
So the mystery is still there...
Cheers to all

Re: oil dipstick
I checked the oil dipstick I bought not so long ago from SNG Barratt and the different marks are placed between 3,5mm (top of the hash marks) and 1mm (bottom of hash marks) higher than on Julian's (original I suppose) one. OK, maybe I should not go until the top of the marks, but it does give an ide...

oil dipstick
Hi everybody, if you happen to have an original oil dipstick with your 3.8 E Type engine, could you please give me the exact length between the cap (without the felt ring) and the center of the knurled area of your original oil dipstick? That would be very useful to me: I just learned that the total...

Re: Oil or petrol?
Thank you David, in fact my question was a bit stupid, what is meaningful is the length from the cap to the center of the knurled area, around which the oil level should be. Would you be so kind? (or add the distance from tip to the center of the knurled area to your previous answer?) Again, thanks ...

Hi Julian, thank you for your kind offer from September 18th and sorry for not reacting immediately, that was not very polite from my side! Did you finish the refurbishment of your steering wheel to your satisfaction? I always got replies from Nick Reeves when I asked for information. I am now comin...

Hi Eric (64etype) what do you mean by "A new aftermarket "Smiths" 0-100 mechanical gauge is offered by some suppliers, but I had very bad experience with them. " ? I bought mine from Holden in England last year and the indicator "jumps" sometimes, i.e. not progressing or reacting with a smooth movem...

hi everybody, if a few among you happen to have an original one on your car(s), i would like very much to know the exact useful length of the engine oil dipstick (only the part that gets into the engine). Could you mesure without the felt ring? I am not sure where mine is coming from and i have a fu...

Re: Radio and Centre Console tweaks.
Hi Rory, it looks very neat indeed. How did you manage to get the long central console to sit low enough on the tunnel+trim, and the aluminium part around the gear lever also low enough? On my car, the radio console doesn't get space enough between gear lever surround and legend bar and looks like i...

Hi,
does anybody know whether Nick Reeves is again restoring steering wheels or the only possibility is to buy the wooden parts from him and do the work yourself?
thanks!

are you sure that your new springs are not too long? it might be necessary to modify them a bit by folding the ends a bit inside?

Hi everybody, still Re: Sun visors on the series 1 fhc, i have seen that the chromed metal pieces (fixed through the header roof panel) holding the sun visors are extremely expensive, only on special order from the usual providers. Do you know of a cheaper alternative, maybe from another car with so...
