Re: Anyone know what this is?

For those who remember Ogri in Bike magazine...

That reminds me of the episode when he surreptitiously dropped a couple of shims on the floor of the perfectionist rebuilding his DBD34.

Re: Hello to all from France

Good man!

The Jaguar Enthusiasts Club are arranging an event "in the Dordogne region" towards the end of September so a few Jags might be passing your way.

Re: Area meetings

Interesting that on the E type Club website they make it sound like they are more involved in the forum..they quote "The Forum is kindly hosted by E-Type UK (in conjunction with the Jaguar E-type Club)".........Steve Their Forum links also points at this one. When I mentioned "the" forum to P. Port...

Re: Door glass rubber seal

Just to make sure I haven't made my usual mis-understanding. Are you talking about BD10413, item 24 on Plate 50? "Clip, securing outer seals" Those are the clips I'm referring to (I think).

Re: Door glass rubber seal

Yes, I had this problem a couple of years ago. After a lot of googling around the internet I did find one source of those types of clips: https://www.components-direct.com/component-and-fastener-products/edge-clips-d-type Looking back at my emails I bought EPF200-PPBLK and EPF205-PPBLK. From what I ...

Re: E type Roll Centre and Handling

I'd be interested to read about any ideas Clive may come up with, even if I'd have no intention of implementing them. It's not like no-one has tried to "improve" the handling before with stiffer this and adjustable that.

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

Do you have a copy of you map/chosen settings that you used, that you are prepared to share? If I could find a way of getting the file off my phone I would willingly! The values I use are listed below. You should be able to create your own curve file from them. I just started with the "maximum" adv...

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

So what's the simple answer? Do you set it to 10 degrees BTDC or at TDC? I just had a look at the 123 Tune manual again. It says "Bring the engine to the static timing point - at the end of the compression stroke", which is a bit unclear. Maybe it's the translation from Dutch, but if you read it as...

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing

Yeah, I found the instructions (123 Tune) a bit unclear as well. It's almost like they're pasted together from different versions of the product. My conclusion in the end is that you do have to set using the static timing point, and all the timing curve waypoints are set to (desired value - static t...

Re: Battery clamp/tray and battery size...

You're not alone - it was the same problem on mine as well. I had to cut a section out of the top clamp and get it re-welded. If you've not fitted it already, check the air-filter support bracket. Again, it needed shortening on mine. I never worked out which bit of the car caused the problem, and it...

I know what you mean. That's why I re-drew the diagram so that it was easier to follow.

Hopefully you can right click the diagram, save it and print it.

Re: Engine loom fitting

Hi.
It's not clear to me what you are trying to do, but the Brown/Purple wire from the Regulator goes to the ignition switch, not the starter. The Brown/Green wire should be connected to the alternator.

Re: Pink Floyd

Obscured by clouds. I have been posting on Jag-Lovers about single malts, having just emptied a bottle a Glenfiddich 8year old which had the price label still on it. £4.15. I think it was bought in the 1980s. Full bottles of the same are now changing hands at over £200. Time to re-fill it then? Jus...

Re: height of brake and clutch pedals S1 4.2 1965

I had the same problem – the first time I actually sat in the car (1965 fhc) with a seat fitted my first thought was “those pedals are going to be impossible after about 30 minutes”. So I did some customisation and the gap from the top of the brake pedal horizontally back to the firewall is now abou...

Re: Wiring diagram

Hi where can I get a wiring diagram I can read? My modern Haynes manual diagram is dreadful even when I try to blow it up on the printer the wiring colour abbreviations are mostly illegible :wow: Cheers I re-drew the Haynes one ("from chassis numbers IE.500001") in Visio and saved it as a PDF. That...

Or am I wrong?
Most likely right. I'm sure there's a story somewhere on this forum where it's reported that the fitters found it quicker to staple the retainers rather than screw them down.

And those split rivets
Check the parts book for your model. The S1 4.2 FHC has self-tappers rather than rivets from 1E.20117 (1965).

Re: E type full build

If you haven't done so already, get hold of a copy of the parts catalogue. That describes everything you need for each sub-assembly, right down to the washers. And don't just rely on the pictures. Sometimes you will find parts listed in the text that aren't shown on the diagrams. For example, have y...
