Replica Marston radiator for 1962 3.8 FHC
I have decided to give my 3.8 a present and upgrade from the current generic aluminum item to a Marston replica product. So far I have been able to identify 4 separate manufacturers making the correct finned version - these are Fosseway, Coolcat, Nar and Radtec all of which have small differences. T...

Re: NEEDED - Steering column - lower UJ
I found the same problem with my 62 FHC and determined to apply a good amount of torque onto the allen headed bolt that clamps the yoke onto the spline. Firstly I obtained from a specialist tool supplier here in Melbourne a half inch socket into which was embedded the correct size of male allen key ...

Correct routing of S1 clock reset cable
Any help or advice would be much appreciated regarding an issue that has come up in the finishing off process for my right hand drive 62 FHC. The car never came with a clock reset cable so I was fortunate to obtain a spare from a friend which appeared to be correct but too long. When installed it fo...

Re: Wipers don't clear screen?
Just as a matter of interest Angus are you able to clarify what length the early 3.8 blades were? The advice I had from Tex was they were 11 inches but there seems to be some confusion on the topic between 11 and 12 inch? Any clarification you can give would be appreciated. Re: Hinged luggage board trim materials
Hi Steve,
Thanks for that advice which clarifies the situation perfectly - since doing the post the thought had occurred that the thickness of the hardura would be a problem getting the edge of it under the top chrome rail anyway.

Hinged luggage board trim materials
I am the process of re-rimming the interior of my September 1962 build 3.8 FHC which has many omissions that need to be reinstated. One issue that I cannot seem to find a definitive answer for is what trim materials were used for both sides of the folding luggage board. Some advice I have had is tha...

Luggage rail locations on 3.8 FHC
I am currently in the process of converting a 4.2 folding luggage board back to 3.8 specification which involves relocating the luggage levers and the outer rails which on a 3.8 sit much closer to the inner guards. My car's is VIN 886763 with a build date of September 1962 therefore should have the ...

Re: Rear door lock
I don't know if you have solved this problem already but having recently re-assembled my lock mechanism after zinc plating it is just a matter of keeping the coiled section of the springs hard against the inside of the casing whilst getting the 2 lever sections into place. I also thought it was almo...

Re: Gear knob thread size
Hi Trev, I had a similar problem with my 62 FHC where it looked like someone had put multigrips around the shaft at some stage and ruined the plating - these are available from Barratts for GBP24.50 under part no C4054 and the quality is very good - up to OEM specification. Only thing is looking at ...

Hi, I am about to reinstall my original Lucas Indicator/flasher unit onto the steering column of my 62 FHC as part of a left to right hand drive conversion and this area does not seem to have a closeup in the 3.8 Sticky. My question is this - the base of the indicator stalk has an aluminium collar s...
