Re: AC Compressor- Anyone have this happen?

It depends.
Mileage, conditions where you drive in terms of dust, pollen, bugs ....
But more important, what part of the AC are you thinking about ?
I was referring to the condenser and evaporator.

Re: Air condition

Hi Harald, that is a known problem with the S3 AC switch. All current for the fan runs through the switch and when corrosion over 40+ years build up, you get poor connection and therefore heat build up. The heat causes the cam wheel inside the switch to melt and eventually the switch fails. I believ...

Re: Recommendations for a V12 specialist near Northants/Cambs/Beds

Hi Rick, I started out pretty much like you, but over 10 years ago and in the US. Had no idea of any forum and had no contacts. My engine was running on maybe 6 of the 12 cylinders and I simply started by replacing all ignition service parts (plugs, cables, distributor cap & rotor and coil) and ther...

Re: 14" or 15" Moto-Lita steering wheel?

I fitted a 13" MotoLita in My S3 and also reduced the pump pressure for less assist and more feel.
Just an other data point.

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust

Oles exhaust system and mine are identical in construction. And both cars are for sale. Good time to be a V12 buyer in the colonies! Ole's car will be on the front cover of Jaguar Journal in late October. Mark, with your username being 42 South, I assume you're not related to Dave Brown in Invercar...

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust

Just as an alternative to other exhaust modifications. I deleted the rear box and replace it with two 2.5" straight pipes. All stainless steel and homegrown from straight pipe, reducers and bends bought online. The sound is slightly louder and somewhat deeper. https://i.postimg.cc/fykZDJX0/IMG-2097....

Re: Overdrive S3

I like that red hood in the video, tell me Sir, do you have the velcro strips behind the doors???? I still cant get someone to tell me whether that is how they should be???? If my little old MGB doesnt need velcro strips why the hell does an e-type.... My car has the Velcro behind the doors. That’s...

Re: Overdrive S3

Just as an example of how it can be done.
An XJ series 2, 4 speed with overdrive installed in my 1974 S3 and controlled by a push button in the gear knob that sends the on/off pulse to the control box behind the glove box.

Re: Series 3 V12 Running Hot

That looks a lot like my diagram, except that I wasn’t sure if I needed a relay for each high speed feed and also not having the low speed feed connected to the fans, but through the high speed relay so it is disconnected from the low speed terminals when running high speed. I also have a two step s...

Re: Oil leak advice

My timing chain access plug was hard as a piece of coal when I worked on the valve clearances a few years ago. I fitted a new plug and added a small spring loaded "clamp" to keep the plug from weeping oil. Under the aluminium bracket is a spring pressing on a washer. https://i.postimg.cc/qMHRQjjc/IM...

Re: Fitting a 4 spd box with OD into an auto V12

Hi Simon, here's a list of things you'll need and some for your consideration from one of my previous posts. Here's a list of items to address that I made a while ago after doing my conversion: Bell housing including clutch release arm and all bits. Clutch master and slave cylinder Hydraulic hose or...

Re: Spare wheel

I don't even carry a spare wheel. I know mentioning this will most likely be bad karma and I will suffer a flat that cannot be repaired with my plug kit. I've even thought of making a space saver wheel from a modern wheel with a splined hub from a wire wheel, but I doubt I'll ever get around to even...

Re: master cylinder assembly diagram

After an MC repair, many have experienced sticking brakes. I found it to be down to the small metal “plate” to the very left on the drawing. It’s stamped out and have a round edge side and a sharp edge side. I believe the sharp edge side have to face the reaction valve to avoid getting stuck when yo...

Because I’ve changed my seats to modified XjS type. I was considering the XJS seats for my S3, but decided on the Mazda Miata/MX5 seats. Not that I want to change them out, but I am curious to see how they fit in an E-type. Would you mind sharing a picture or two ? Thanks and Merry Christmas .........

Maybe this is because the spring below is nt there:
Good call I
Certainly a possible reason I didn't think about.
That spring is there to prevent the SS shield from rattling.
