You are right that planes and E-types can be money pits, but, as one who is now considering going flying again, at least you don't need annual medicals and ECG's to drive the e-type!

Re: What a great car!
Perhaps you were putting in some non-Ethanol champagne instead and that accounted for the increase?

Re: First post on this forum
Richard If you haven't yet "experienced" an E-type then I would suggest you get to meet one. Although not that close to you, I would be happy to show you my Series 2 OTS and point out things of relevance. The Series 1 cars are out of your price range and I would agree the V12 models are usually the ...

Re: Tyre Dilemma - Blockley vs. Pirelli. Advice Please?
I hadn't seen the report before and it made interesting (and worrying) reading When I bought my car it had Vreds but 205/70, which seemd to handle well but made for very heavy steering. I bought some new dunlops but was persuaded to do a deal that gave me some wheels with low mileage Blockleys. I am...
Re: Rain?
Chris I fully agree. I have an OTS with a new hood fitted five years ago by a well known company. Despite returning it for adjustments, it leaks badly. I drive the car all year round and was out on christmas eve and new years day in it. Courtesy of Moss Jaguar, I have heated MX5 seats, wrap up warm ...

Re: Registering a Canadian 1962 Import
I don't know if I'm jumping in without reading the full thread, but an August 66 car would be registered as a 67. The system changed plates on the 1st August each year so 1st Aug 66 would mean a 67 reg. Although we hsave a different system now, I guess they would have to follow the rules at the time...

Re: Never fly Ryanair !
To be fair, I don't think it's only Ryanair, there is a mountain of luggage in Heathrow that is in the tens of thousands. It's an airport issue. Thats why I always upgrade for two items of cabin luggage and very rarely take hold luggage. Doesn't solve your problem, I hope it doesn't spoil your holid...

Thank you for the clear explanation. I will only take you to task on the point that neither lager will harm my body. Having fallen over in the past after copious quantities, I can assure you that they will harm oyur body
As for the Jag, I guess it's super only from now on.

Re: Best petrol
Are you talking about the effect of using bio fuel (E5/E10) or the difference between octane ratings (95/99 RON) as they are two totally different subjects? David I am ingorant enough to not know that  I understand the E5/E10 but what exactly is the difference with 95/99 octane? I assumed it w...

Re: Best petrol
I was thinking the same. I just did a 500 mile run, filled up with E5 first then topped up with E10 during the run. I didn't notice any difference in start-up or running. I've been doing this for six years now and can honestly say it's seemed to make no difference whatever fuel i put in

Re: Can you be charged import duty twice?
Peter I agree to speak to customs first. There is an email address on the UK government website ecsm.nchcars@hmrc.gov.uk There's also a form available there for reclaiming Duty and/or VAT on re-imported cars. It's called C1314 and it mentions three years, so it could be the time limit for doing it. ...

Thanks. I've renewed in March so will try them next time. TBH I get weary of it as I have three cars and a house to insure at the same time

Re: Insurance......
I'm always curious with these insurance prices. Living in London obviously has an effect, but mine this year was the same as last (with Heritage). Lancaster were much more expensive and tried Hegerty this year who were more than double. Adrian Flux didn't return my calls. I've tried multi-car with m...

Re: ULEZ exemption
Mine showed as chargable so I used the contact form on their website and questioned it. After a couple of weeks they sent me an email with a letter confirming that I am exempt from the ULEZ.
Might be worth you doing the same, so that you have it in writing. I didn't register with them.

Re: Clock
That would make sense as mine is a Nov 69 car and it has the external power. One day I'll work out how to adjust it properly!I believe the change from LR50 driven clock to +12 volt driven clock was around October 1969.

Re: new member / dealer and car opinions please
That S 2 roadster looks quite nice - price seems reasonable * if * the bodywork is in good nick . For ex US cars , you need to factor in the cost of : triple Su conversion , diff. ratio change ( 3.54 to 3.07 ) and RHD conversion . That might be as much as £ 15 k ( done by specialist ) . Then you ne...

Talking of bearded scruffs, I keep telling Angus he needs his own channel. He'd make far more from that than the actual restorations.
Now that's a channel that would need to come with an age restriction. We don't want him scaring younger viewers

Re: Brexit Bonus!
Sadly politics are heavily involved right now. It's clear we were quick off the mark with authorising vaccines and sad that various EU countries are making erroneous comments and political plays, when we should all be concentrating on vaccinating our citizens. Sad news tonight that Captain Tom is in...
